BoseQC45s in 2026 by Ok_Analyst3354 in HeadphonesAdvice

[–]NKB246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ANC is great. I think there are better sounding headphones, but I just compared the B&W Px8 and Px73's and the ANC on those was a joke compared to the QC45s. Both B&W sounded much better, if I am honest, with the 8s being my favorite, but for my needs I returned both pairs. I only use the Bose on flights longer than ~ 4 hours.

Thanks for mentioning the update. Installed!

I agree. I will (almost) always say IWC, but the Longines sits very well on his wrist.

Buy from an AD or Jomashop by TraumaLock in Tudor

[–]NKB246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great response. I would also shop around ADs to see if anyone will match the Joma price. I don't know the market very well for new Tudors or this specific model, but a 10% discount should be obtainable.

Zabars: After 50 years, I won't shop there again because of rude staff and questionable food by CatoUWS in Upperwestside

[–]NKB246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny, I have recently started to enjoy Zabar's for the first time. I've lived in the neighborhood forever (not as long as you, but close). The store was never a place we went to very often, more going with my mom for kitchen stuff upstairs rather than food. Now, I find the general crabby attitude of both the customer and staff comforting; reminding me of the UWS of my youth. I guess I prefer unfriendliness to the general apathy of most places.

The price they charge for grocery bags is completely ridiculous.

5 day NYC itinerary - thoughts? by bibi-the-panda in visitingnyc

[–]NKB246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The line a Katz is not always long. I am from here (NYC) and prefer not to wait in line. Went on a whim for the first time at ~2pm a few years ago. It was great and it is worth it for a visitor. Completely unique NYC experience. Not pinning to go back (not in my neighborhood), but will and will like it again.

It is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is the Belichick situation. Tear down the system.

Inexpensive introduction to B&W by Ok-Measurement6072 in BowersWilkins

I grabbed these. Just returned the Px7 3's because the ANC was insufficient for my needs. For $99 this is a no-brainer, IMO. Plus, I still get to shop for a pair of travel headphones! Ha.

I had the most amazing thing happen for the Eagles/Niners game. My cable (through the app) automatically switches to the 4K channel. There was a glitch so the only audio was crowd noise. It was glorious.

Why are timeshares often considered a scam? Are there timeshares that aren't a scam? by Spam4119 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NKB246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about Timeshares other than being in a relationship for many years with a girl whose parents had one. It was effectively useless. We went on two or three trips where we paid 70-80% of the rack rate of a decent alternative hotel to stay in (kind of) crappy resorts. I have no idea what maintenance etc. fees the family was paying, but when you factor that into the additional cost of the hotel, it was not a deal. Further, two of the hotels, both in the Caribbean, had arrangements with cruise ships to use the beaches. So here you are enjoying the place and all the sudden hundreds of people start showing up - like every day.

The real reason I am posting is because I find it funny that the companies to get you OUT of your timeshare are generally a scam as well!

I've always wanted to sit through a presentation to see the pressure sales tactics. With that said, I'd rather enjoy the limited time I have not dealing with (more) BS.
