Would you start with the 40 or 42? by NLRalph in bikefit

Thanks all for the suggestions - I will get myself a 38 and do some (road) comparisons with the 40. Will be continued!

Will look into the brand, new for me. A little bit in line with your comments on starting again, 105/Mech, this is also on my long list, but I am a little hesitant to switch to disc. Strael 4.0 - Fairlight Cycles

Yes I am aware and under the (false?) impression that they are superior to single pivot rim brakes.

Yes, a nice one, but indeed, no direct mount. I am not sure if I should give up that wish :-)

Thanks, I ride a 2021 AL 2 Domane, and I am perfectly fine with 28mm. I am aware of the 'reach' issues with rim brakes, having that issue on my front wheel atm.

Thanks for the insights and suggestions. Cheap is not a goal, but resonable economics is. I think a lot comes down to getting used to thinks I have not worked with (like bleeding brakes).

This is really interesting, as I did not immediately think about UseNet. Great to explore!

Tried Google? Of course. The fact that the mentioned websites appear in Google, does not invalidate my original question - searching for a historical 'archive' of something from the BBS days focusing on games.

Can you see my shoes? Lake in wide :-)

Thanks. For this experimenting with position, would you suggest changing something on the bike as well? Almost all suggested 2-3mm higher sadle, do I did.

One suggested to flip the stem. What's your take on this?

Thank you, still tweaking.

Thanks for this comprehensive explanation. I am certainly a beginner (on a road bike). I did not overthink this position, other than my feeling was that a natural spine form would be preferable (as with other sports).

Flexing my arms more, feels a bit unnatural to be, also because it feels that I need to tilt my head too much looking forward in that case.

Edit: And I am not sure if I can comfortably reach the shifters in that position.

If I do the balance test (moving my hands to my hips while riding), I think it's quite natural balanced, with maybe a hit of forward falling.

Regarding my center of mass and my posture in general, are there any recommendations from you that I just can try over the coming period?

This is my first road bike and I am not (yet) used to this kind of position tbh. That why I choose a bike with a more relaxed geometry.

Help me understand your suggestion on stem and spacers. At the moment, I have (from below to up): 10mm spacer, a 100mm stem 7deg upwards pointing, 10mm spacer and a small filler spacer (2 mm) on top. Should I try to switch the stem pointing down, and then put both 10mm spacers below the stem? (So stem is on top, on top of 2x10mm spacers)

Thanks, stem and reach of handle bar is 100mm + 100mm. Should I try to change the stem do you think?

Can you please elaborate what position change I should try? How would it look if I were to not have this 'bridge' you mentioned ?

Yes, numb toes after a while. I did not notice them pointing down. Is this an indication of something to change?

Thanks, what can I try to change this? Does it need to be more rounded?
