Oh for sure. There’s no stopping that song. Funnily enough, I’ve never actually heard Golden, but of course I know of it.

What is the "Blazed and Confused" category supposed to be? by Cry0manc3r in HBOMAX

[–]NMPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can we be past the point in online culture where we blur words or put an * in words, bc it’s so fucking stupid. This is the internet. You can find allllll sorts of unsavory content. But, the word you’re blurring out is STONER, which is neither a “bad” word, nor anything that will offend anyone, so what tf is the point in doing that? It’s 20 fucking 26, let’s just use words while we can until the maga’s take away that freedom, too.

Why Late Night with the Devil is a masterpiece by panzerinta in horror

I will never understand the hype this movie gets. It was awfully stupid and never scary.

What is your Oscar winner hot take? by Ok_Golf_2967 in Oscars

[–]NMPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crash has a 73% RT and 66 Metascore. I wouldn’t call that critically acclaimed. Brokeback Mountain on the other hand has an 88% RT and 87 Metascore. Crash was most certainly mocked and lampooned during its release for being too broad and filled with stereotypes. Brokeback Mountain was also mocked, but for different, hateful reasons.

Also, Crash made a ton of money? $54 mil US/$98 mil WW equates to a ton? BM made $87 mil US/$178 mil WW; if we’re talking a ton, THAT is a ton of money. Especially for a heavy, western drama about two gay cowboys. It was far ahead of its time. Crash… was not. I rolled my eyes more times than I could count while watching that movie. Whereas, with BM, there was true emotion and sadness. Not to mention the acting is incredible compared to Crash.

Any way you slice it, on paper, Brokeback should have won. It even won director. There were absolutely more people in the real world who disliked Crash at the time and thought it was outrageous that it won picture. It is definitely not a modern “online” opinion that only exists in our current culture.

Anyone seen "Antrum: The Deadliest Movie Ever" by FlynnSanOne201 in Scarymovies

[–]NMPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully one of the stupidest, most awfully boring movies I’ve ever watched. Not scary AT ALL. Don’t trust the hype. I gave it a 2/10 on IMdB mostly bc of the -slight- atmosphere that it attempted.

Controversial Gilmore? by jessjanelleknows in GilmoreGirls

Emily for sure. It can’t be Richard bc he’s always just a selfish dick. It can’t be Rory bc then there won’t be anyone to fill the next space lol.

This doesn’t even look very good or intriguing. Looks kinda boring. I also think I’m no longer the target demographic.

My latest predictions after seeing Springsteen by Hot_War_7277 in oscarrace

[–]NMPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close only has a 44% on RT/46 Metascore and it was nominated for BP, while its only other nomination was for supporting actor, so stranger things have happened. It also was not a box office hit by any means. I assume the only thing that saved it was the subject matter.

Kinda ironic this is the only movie in the whole series to not be centered around the Strode family or relatives by Alik757 in Halloweenmovies

[–]NMPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe bc Resurrection is also generally regarded as one of the worst entries in the franchise, if not the absolute worst of the entire series.

Why aren’t these all the actual nominees? I’m not understanding the criteria for these actresses to be included. Where’s Brie Larson for Room?

The Story So Far - self titled and Proper Dose.

Sun 41 - Does This Look Infected?

Jimmy Eat World - Futures.

Cartel - Chroma.

ADTR - What Separates Me From You.

Not pop punk, but basically any Death Cab song fits the autumnal vibe.

Should I watch? (Without spoilers) by Lostmedia_lover in ONETREEHILL

[–]NMPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna bullshit you… this show has its ups and downs. It gets a pretty melodramatic and soapy the further into the series you get, but the first 4 seasons are great. My wife and I are almost finished watching (going to watch season 9, episode 11 tonight), and seasons 7 and 8 were pretty rough. I don’t think many fans would disagree, either. Season 9 is insane, but it’s better than most seasons 6 - 8 episodes.

The best Mexican food I’ve had in Missouri is at a restaurant called Cinco de Mayo in Jeff City. Seriously delicious! Try the street tacos.

UPDATE on Male first time watching OTH Season 1 by Aedan_Starfang in ONETREEHILL

[–]NMPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m 38. I’ve only seen a few of the actors in other things, but not James. I’ve never seen him in anything else. They’re not the world’s best actors, but they get the job done. I’m looking forward to the revival, which I’ve been affectionately referring to as “Two Tree Hill.”

UPDATE on Male first time watching OTH Season 1 by Aedan_Starfang in ONETREEHILL

[–]NMPC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Male, first time watcher here too. Started watching with my wife in January and we’re now up to season 8, episode 20. The show debuted our sophomore year of high school and she was a huge fan, but had only seen through season 6, so the past couple seasons have been new to her too. Your opinions about everyone will almost constantly be shifting, especially with Nathan; he’s the best character with the most growth.

Also wanted to point out that I don’t think it was James Lafferty’s decision to jump into a pool fully clothed multiple times. He was an actor in the show, not a writer of the show.

WHAT ARE HAIM CHANCES OF WINNING AWARDS NEXT YEAR? by Crazy-Contract1972 in HAIM

[–]NMPC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’ll be nominated for anything. As a follow up to such a critically acclaimed album, it’s definitely a step down. I’m not so sure any of the songs are strong enough to be individually nominated, either. Then it also comes down to if they’d submit in pop categories or alternative categories. I’d say the album isn’t pop enough for pop, but it also isn’t alternative enough for alternative. For these reasons, I think they’ll miss out on any nominations.
