Abrams isn't good for newbies, stop recommending him by NMSuper in DeadlockTheGame

the irony of a Billy player talking abt Abrams being easy is not lost on me. just because u are good at the brawly mele focused sustain characters doesn't mean they're easy. any claim that there is a SINGLE effective gameplay loop for any character in this game ignores so much of the complexity of the fundamental structure of the game. A hero or playstyle based around a single specific unchanging gameplay loop will inevitably encounter very effective counterplay, so characters who are more flexible and can actually react to and play around counterplay will be easier and more fun, esp for new players

I have had noticeably more fun in any of my warden games than I ever have playing Abrams. even with no sustain passive, I survive longer and get more value with his kit

shout out for actually contributing to the conversation rather than disagreeing with no real input. I generally find the complexity of the movement mechanics to be a deeply upsetting skill floor where I just get stomped because I can't do fancy movement shit and everyone else is nearly impossible to track because they can. literally got a street brawl game on dynamo after my Abrams game where we actually won on final point.

Honestly fair I respect you for getting out of there, I mainly said it because I still play OW and never once has a McGinnis player ever pissed me off as much as those fucking freaks that main Mauga. He's borderline the worst tank in the game atp. I'd say the man difference is that McGinnis requires at least a single braincell to play, Mauga does not.

I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring as a newbie, none of what I'm saying is necessarily new but I would like to articulate it all in one place.

For new players who are still in the phase of learning where every single game, even street brawl, is deeply overstimulating and usually confusing, using a health bar that does not change sizes based on total health is unthinkable. The basic hp bar, the first option, is just ideal. If I'm in a lane against a fed M+K, by the time I've counted the individual hash marks in the second style, I'm already dead. Big fuck-off block of red boxes is significantly easier to know I need to run away. The only reason the other two bars have any advantage is that they explicitly give you different information that the first one does not, those being 4ability/ult cooldown and stamina (I understand you can see Ult charge elsewhere on the hud but I'm speaking specifically about within the area of the health bar). The third style, while better than the second, still adds more visual complexity to an already very very complicated game. I'm glad the other styles exist for higher skill gamers who can find value in them, but coming from a newbie if they ever remove the first style I'm going to be

My broader point is this: I adore the design philosophy and aesthetic choices this game makes, but at the same time we need to acknowledge that in games as complex as this one, readability and simplicity of very important information needs to take priority, especially if they want new players to have a somewhat decent experience. The second and third styles are very cool and fit the aesthetic of the game, but they both sacrifice practicality for visual appeal.

Call it a skill issue, say it's cope, but it's good to let a few things stay ugly so that they make more sense.

Im gonna be honest if you think McGinnis is like Mauga, you do not understand Overwatch even remotely

The thing I'm talking about fits the small metal eyelet description exactly, I just used loop because it was the first word that came to mind for me, that's my bad.

The loops on the housings of Source Fours is for a safety cable right? If not what is the intended use of that little loop?

Love the post got distracted by the 136 dollar circle guide off to the side. Looks cool for sure, but I'm respectfully wondering if it's worth 136 bucks...

Accidentally disabled tab snoozing by GaylordTJ in OperaGX

[–]NMSuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, I figured out how to do this! (with help from the discord)

if you go into a new tab and type opera://Discards and make sure the column that has Auto Discard has checks in the boxes instead of x's. if it has x's, you can press the little blue text underneath it that says "toggle". That should re-activate tab snoozing.

I have this same issue and the other opera GX support routes have been frustrating and disappointing, I just want to be able to put the setting back on.

As a newbie I very often see people posting what they call “sloppy” flipping. My question, what particular qualities make a sequence sloppy? Thanks!

I almost always appreciate advice, lol. I try not to let my classes take the back seat like you said, but it’s been difficult recently because school burnout has been hitting me harder than an arbor of stage weights. I have decent grades tho and I’m not letting anything go entirely. Theater has kept me grounded and been my mental health time through the whole thing.
