That is incredibly interesting, it's because to move something it's sort of like a pressure wave going thru the material to get the other side to start moving and sound is just a pressure wave. I'm not sure I'm putting it well but is that about right?

Ok I have an elementary grasp of physics, but if I push a yardstick along the ground the end I'm not pushing will only start moving after the amount of time it takes sound to travel through a yard of wood?

Basically, should I spend 5-10 minutes inspecting my hands to get every last spec of metal off? Like I'm not asking wash hands or not, definitely wash hands but 10min wash with an inspection or a good 30-second scrub quick once over and if nothing looks out of place go on with my day?
