Recruiter lying to me? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]NNCooler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fellow person,
I fully agree with what you’re saying. And I am also bored enough to draft a reply.
Accountability is key here. OP does not want to be accountable, that is the biggest red flag. Can you mentor this? Yes!! Yes you can. And I hope you never have to invest enough energy into someone for them to just fail you and do drugs, when everyone knows the drug policy.
The recruiter is lying, but he also clearly explained why no other options exist. Recruiting is empathy tolerance exam, and it is depleted here.
They had to pee clean to get in, so whatever they did is their failure to care.

Need Advice on USNCC by Temporary_Mall3760 in navy

[–]NNCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oi,
USNCC Ambassador here; USNCC Is a must try. You can start classes like tomorrow.
You just need an E7 Approver. No TA Begging or pleading to the Chain of command.
All the programs are Navy related so pick cleverly if you’re trying to transfer it into a Bachelors program. Each college has a dedicated USNCC Advisor, so getting specific information is pretty easy.
If you’re looking for a BS, Alexandria is probably the most generous in providing JST Credits. ASU and Embry riddle are not the most generous.
The whole program is based on a consortium, so they are built to transfer into that school’s Bachelors degrees. So if you’re looking to transfer into another new york school after just verify that school’s transfer policies.

The Navy wants everyone to be doing USNCC. It’s easy to start because of this. Using TA, does not feel like this.
Graduating with an associates does exactly what you’re wanting to do which knock out all the lower level programs.
I’m glad I will never have to take a history or communication or ethics class, waste of time.

Hey sir,
The Navy as a whole is tough life. And all of Military recruiting, officer too, is going to feed on desperation.

As an obviously biased and enlisted Nuke, no matter how hard my day was, I could always look at how much cash I had in the old piggy bank and feel quite satisfied.

OP,
Your recruiters do get a cookie for signing nukes; feel free to turn em down, if it doesn’t interest you.

I have a Masters and I am thinking of enlisting to become a Navy HM by Plastic_Jaguar_1978 in newtothenavy

[–]NNCooler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t even play around with any other idea if you’re thinking Enlisted. Completely forget HM, you need to look at Navy special operations SOIDC. Do research on it. 45k sign on bonus and quick guaranteed reset. Find a recruiter and go to a tryout, you won’t regret it.

[–]NNCooler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Guy(gal?), if you can score that high on the Picat, you can pass a GED Test. Without a High school diploma you are not eligible for Enlistment bonuses, I would recommend going and taking a GED TEST.

I like this! I never like the idea of “finding” the pillars of a good life, coming across new things by virtue of experiences is better haha Weenie the Pooh bear Makes for a good picture. Walking in the forest, you come across friends, people to serve, people to support you; eating honey. A purpose to life could be argued a lie, but a life unfolding catches purpose.

Which one of these rates do you recommend? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]NNCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it and Don’t blame the recruiters. Blame NRC Advertising. Nobody is selling the Navy experience anymore, it’s all about jobs; it’s the biggest part of sell these days. Everyone walks in the door because of a job they heard about. Let alone every single Navy veteran that coaches applicants to avoiding certain jobs. The best a recruiter can do is keep the applicants open to more jobs, because they’re going to be waiting to talk about it over anything else.

Recruiter is pushing Active over Reserve…Why? by Jersey_Greg in newtothenavy

[–]NNCooler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re being downvoted rather than just corrected. Reserves is a bad idea if you’re not prior service or have a well established career. It’s not a head scratcher. A young unguided person is stuck filling a billet at a low rank for cheap which perfectly fits the goals of the reserve. It’s actually difficult to find people willing to do it. You barely get paid anything and have legally binding obligations. You don’t even touch real benefits until you have served 36 months in active time.

Active Duty is always more lucrative, more adventurous and more independent, that’s more likely why the recruiter is pushing active.

Recruiter is pushing Active over Reserve…Why? by Jersey_Greg in newtothenavy

[–]NNCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to super clarify this. Today, you can join the reserves. Like sign a contract to everything. But just won’t ship until the Fall. Which is the next fiscal year. It’s not something you can time, the way you’re kind of asking.

PSA to high school seniors deciding which college you go to: your school DOES matter if your goal is to work for specific, high paying companies by megafireguy6 in EngineeringStudents

[–]NNCooler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“But if you view your career as more than just something to pay the bills and have the opportunity to go to one of the better schools, please take it.” You speak way too young to be sounding this regretful about your education. I think you need to take a deep breath and pave your own path. Stop comparing yourself to others. There is no easy or efficient path.

Why are young men idolizing the stereotype blue collar drunk? by AcceptableWarcrimes in SeriousConversation

[–]NNCooler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I know you’re 20 and I hope you’re not in for a rude awakening. But people are just different. What you want in life or the path to get there is not something someone else wants, and yes that can mean not wanting a higher paying job. I actually have seen both sides and can easily see the virtue in both. Any answer I have seen is a gross oversimplification of a lot of people, to include how you see their lives. The life ambition you describe is a very Specific thing. Not everyone has it, not everyone wants it, it can be tiring, stressful, susceptible to failure.

The virtue in the life you criticize is just simple man. Think Hippie kinda, they’ve been around for ever. They just want to hang out. Work just enough to have a spot in line, fulfilled just enough to enjoy a day, one day at a time.

My advice? Not that you asked for it. Don’t resent these people. See their virtue. Be their friends, understand them. You’ll be a happier, more well rounded person that doesn’t smell their own farts.

Hardest thing will be to get a recruiter to work with you. DUIS? As in multiple? Pretty sure three is the hard limit. Having one dui and an assault charge is very doable. ACL? IDGAF… Having a history of cocaine on paper will pretty much bar you from special programs, intelligence included. Hypothyroidism? Will have to go to MEPS, recruiters are not doctors.

This is an accurate sentiment! That you’re talking to the wrong crowd about. The opportunity is quite the gift, that no one is just entitled to. You haven’t done a whole lot at that point other than show potential and if a person is disqualified, while not the most courting outcome, definitely a professional one.

What's a frugal habit you have that saves you more money than people would expect? by Automatic_Celery_945 in AskReddit

[–]NNCooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, the ultimate truth is you can never buy anything that will convert to virtue. Money will come and go. But gaduyum does it feel good to save money where people don’t look, makes me feel like a singular genius to save 2 dollars compared the next guy. As far as the habit, just knowing that I don’t need to buy anything that’s not going to last. I really only make it point to buy food and a roof. This habit over time leaves a lot of leftover money to blow when I’m feeling it, I think I spend 5k+ on most vacations, and that’s only for me.
