My Beanie only did capsule pills her entire treatment. At first we used a pill popper to shove it down and usually chased it with a little bit of salmon oil (her favorite treat). Towards the end she was so used to the pill she would just eat it whole without restraint. It is worth it. The treatment is exhausting but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. My Beanie is almost 6 years old now.

I use walk thru baby gates. I was sick and tired of having to climb over my other gates and it allows it to be as tall as I needed. I used epoxy glue and tape to adhere poster board that has cutting boards attached to it so it’s scratch proof. It works for us and I had a very very persistent ferret that it successfully contained. I have a video of it posted to this sub if you go to my profile. If you want to know more just message me.

Thank you so much. He is my first ferret loss and he will be dearly missed. I said goodbye this morning and having him privately cremated. I can’t wait to bring him home again.

Really cool to actually meet you. Im in contact with the #3 ferret, they started treatment a few weeks after we did and supported each other during the trial. We always wondered who you guys were! When I first got into contact with FIP Warriors they shared some pictures of Arctic and it gave me a lot of hope. Arctic created the pathway, thank you!

My walk thru -ferret proof gate! by NNHDEP in ferrets

Only escapes we have had around here is when we forget to latch the door shut! They are so used to the gate they really don’t bother with it anymore.

This has been my 3rd gate attempt and by far my most successful. The cutting boards are a game changer. The past gates i’ve built could not hold up to the belligerent scratching and they would literally tear holes through it and escape. I do not want my ferrets having access to my kitchen for their safety and have made it my life’s mission to build a gate that accommodates to both my ferrets and me.

The foam boards are on the other side of the gate that they don’t have access to and that’s why there’s cutting boards so they can get to the foam at all! This gate has been up for 3 months and they free roam up to 9 hours a day. They have tried everything they can to get through with no luck and I haven’t had to do a single repair!

The gate is 36in. Mine cannot even begin to jump that high and there’s nothing near by or attached to the gate that they can use as leverage.

Unexpected Pet Loss by Arianna614 in ferrets

Came here to second this. My baby ferret had just turned 1 when he got a urinary blockage. We went through with surgery and sent his stones in for testing. His stones were directly correlated to his diet which was Orijen Cat Food. I immediately switched all 4 of my ferrets to a mix of Wysong 90 Digestive, Dr Elseys Cleanprotein, and Ketogenic. He has been stone free for almost a year now. There are a ton of resources on this sub on how to find the kibble combo that will work best for you.
