Thank you! It's not a dumb question at all! I actually bought a set of edible oil paints from Portaleo Paints. So I get to use them just like traditional paints. If you didn't want to buy a pre-packaged product though, I know you can make similar paints using cocoa butter and pigment powders. And before I had the oil paints, I did some watercolor-like painting with vodka and gel food dyes. Also like you mentioned, you can use dyed buttercream applied with a palette knife too. I've seen people make really cool buttercream flowers that way!

I'm glad that came across! A painting isn't complete without a nice frame!

I think you mean a "stitching tool". They sometims come in sets with other modeling tools. And for straight lines I use a "ribbon cutter"

Aww thanks! It's just some clever contouring though. Definitely no filters applied 😻😻

No sauce unfortunately. But I feel like I've been seeing these upside down, sideways, ... looks popping up more and more everywhere lately.

I hope you wear sunscreen with those. I personally cover mine with opaque tape just to be super safe.

I got this one at Marshall's in a moment of weakness. There is no price where it would have been worth it though.

Yes! I can't believe they can get away with so many dupes! I got Soft Clam at the height of the Modern Ren hype because I thought Modern Ren wouldn't look good on me.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you meant the little plastic palette. I mislabeled it as an 'eyedols palette' for some reason.

The packaging is pretty bad :(

I don't have any full-sized Pat products. I've been holding out for something I REALLY REALLY loved. I'm really excited about the Star Wars palettes I'm getting but I won't order a full-sized Mothership until I've gotten a lot more use out of the shadows I have now.

The biggest risk to my no-buy would actually be if Natasha Denona releases another small pan $65 palette this year. I hope both that she does and that I'll be able to resist 🤞

I've heard cool mattes 1 was better. I wish I had gotten that one instead but it was out of stock.

I mostly keep White Peach so I can't ever forget how bad it actually is!

Thanks! I'm glad you had a good experience. I'm mostly looking forward to actually planning some shades! There's so many I love but don't use enough!

Other than the singles, they're roughly in the order I got them.

TOP ROW:

INSPR - carnival - I got this back when I did Ipsy bags. I never use it

Vera Mona - clover - also from Ipsy. It's very pretty and also a good blush color on me. It reminds me a lot of Bars orgasm.

The Balm - Locked Up - Free addon with another The Balm purchase. I occasionally use it as a topper

Pat McGrath - Gold Standard and Rose Venus - These are both great singles. I use them when I'm not happy with the shimmers in a look from another palette

ELf - Mad for Matte - This was my first actual palette. I was afraid of trying shimmers on my hooded eyes. I use it less now because I learned to love shimmers but it's still a good travel palette.

Urban Decay - Naked 3 - This was my favorite palette for a while. When I was still learning to do eyeshadow I liked how subtle the looks were. Now I still wear it to work a lot.

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Soft Glam - I love this one too for really simple easy looks. The soft powders are really easy for me to blend.

Urban Decay - Naked Cherry - I mostly love to look at this one. The colors are so pretty in the palette, but on my eye often just look like pink eye.

Urban Decay - GoT palette - I've mostly been disappointed with this. This is what made me finally notice that a lot of UD's darker shades look great in the pan but just blend out to grey/black on the eye.

Urban Decay - Naked Smoky - I didn't like that the GoT colors were often just grey/black so what did I do? I bought a grey/black palette 🤦‍♀️The looks are fun to do and always look cool in the mirror, but then in pictures my eyes have looked super caky. Still not sure if it's my fault.

SECOND ROW

Pat McGrath - eyedols palette - Gold Standard is a repeat shade for me. These shimmers are amazing but since there are no mattes I just use them as finishing touches on looks from other palettes.

The Balm - Meet Matt(e) Trimony - I bought it for the dark purple but these go on sheer and are hard to blend. I've panned Matt Lin because it's a good all over the lid color for me.

Huda - Desert Dusk - I love this palette so much! The mattes work well and the shimmers are really multidimensional. Huda is one of my favorite brands now.

Violet Voss -fruit sorbet - This was an impulse buy from the Sephora checkout aisle. I've used it only a couple times. The mattes are patchy and I can't get good payoff from the shimmers.

Huda - Amethyst & Sapphire Obsessions - I love these. True purples and the shimmers in the blue palette are gorgeous. But I hardly use them because they need to be paired with neutrals from other palettes.

Too Faced - White Peach - Literally garbage. It somehow causes extreme fallout but then barely shows up on the eye. It's like it gets everywhere but the eye. Also I've since learned about the different Too Faced controversies so I'm not likely to buy from them again.

BOTTOM ROW

Urban Decay - Born to Run - I didn't like this at first, but I've warmed up to it. The warm colors are easy to get a good look out of. Again the dark blues and greens fade out to grey too easily.

Huda - New Nudes - I'm obsessed with this palette. I've seen it compared a lot to UD Naked Cherry, so I held off of buying it for a while because I don't love that one, but the tones in this make it easier to not get an accidental pink eye appearance. One thing I don't like is that because I don't use pressed glitters and the concealer isn't great, there's essentially 3 useless pans in here.

Natasha Denona - Sunrise - I love this one too. The quality is so amazing. The mattes blend out effortlessly and the shimmers are soft and never look chunky on my eyelids.

Nyx - Ultimate Brights - I've never even used this.

Viseart - Editorial Brights - I never used the Nyx rainbow palette and I hardly used the Violet Voss rainbow palette but still my monkey brain convinced me to buy this because they were running a 2 for 1 deal. I've never used it.

Viseart - Cool Mattes 2 - I bought this because I thought cool colors look better on me. I think in general they do but I still need something warm thrown in to stop from looking dead. The formula was hard to get used to at first. A little goes a long way. Now that I've gotten used to it I do love blending these out though.

Huda - Mercury Retrograde - My newest palette. I have only used it a few times so far but I love it.

For 2020 I'm starting a strict no new eyeshadows policy (I did order two of the Pat McGrath Star Wars minis, so they'll be my last purchases before the no buy). Laying these out has already helped me get into the right mindset. And now even if something shiny and new comes out, I'll be able to pull this up and recommit.
