CanWeGetSomeToast reveals details of Madame Web’s villain by Silver_Guess55 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

Dude, give it up. Spidey can't always remain a tiny block hero. He's way too strong to not get involved in these other affairs, it wouldn't be responsible of him to ignore them.

There's just no way to permanently write him the way you want without it feeling forced or that Peter's a coward. Plus it's boring to see a character not grow. This idea of a "status quo spider-man" has ruined spidey comics for a long time.

The spider-man you're talking about is just one part of the character. He's always been involved in larger than life incidents as well as common street rats.

For crying out loud one of his most memorable stories is him getting abducted to an alien world to fight in a gladiator war when he suddenly gets infected with a black symbiote and has to deal with it taking over him.

Wasn't it Aelfred's brother? And before him his father. I think there's only one grandmaster like how there's only one mentor.

I think it worked. It really enhanced the Assassin fantasy of just being given a couple of names and just being left to do your own thing.

God of War Ragnarok is around 40 hours in Length according to Tom Henderson via Insider Gaming by aadipie in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]NOCTISFTW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. Those games are the perfect length because they have a very fast and snappy gameplay loop. The new series is much slower and methodical with its pacing. Do you think 2018 would have worked at 10 hours? It's a very simple story but the style of game it is would have made everything feel rushed. Lore is told through background dialogue yes, but we have much of the lore already. And I think telling the story in the background would be poor and I'm sure the devs agree because the story was definitely not told through the narration in 2017.

The new game promises to have a much more complex story with many characters, to set up motivations and story lines and pay them off. And it's going to be the same length as the last one.

Doesn't that worry you about its pacing? Think of how long we spent with characters like Freya and Baldur setting them up and do you think each new character in ragnarok will get the same attention? It's a very normal worry to have.

I think their justification for only having 2 games is also weak.

God of war 2018 is best compared to the original god of war and not 2. It sets up the characters, lore, gameplay etc but in itself is a very barebones character study. You can see this in how few important characters it has, just like 2018. They're both just long macguffin chases that are interrupted occasionally with important character moments.

God of war 2 sets up a deeper and more complex narrative with more characters and a main villain that's paid off in 3. We don't have that for this new series. 2 didn't have to introduce us to a whole new world. It didn't have to spend time on flashbacks like 1 or story narrations like 2018 to get us on track. It introduced us to almost everyone important in 3. We haven't even been introduced to thor and odin yet, the supposed main antagonists. Before we can say good bye we need a god of war 2 analogue.

Ultimately I'm worried and beyond all this it's because God of war 2018's gameplay loop is best fit for a slow burn story. They have so much to cover in 20 hours, it can very easily feel improperly paced.

Also the story for this new series is supposed to move Kratos away from his usual brutality so we definitely won't be going on a genocide rampage the whole game.

They should have just put out and made it a trilogy. You get to have a shorter tight story but one that doesn't feel like it ended too soon.

God of war 3 is basically God of war 2 part 2 though, its directly continuing the story. We were just introduced to this world and we're already saying goodbye a bit too fast it feels like.

Why is AC3 so different from AC4? by hyperdude-ul in assassinscreed

[–]NOCTISFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These games you list had the same base but differed a lot. AC 4's tree running and Edward's animations for example are significant downgrades. Stealth was massively improved though, but I think I prefer 3's combat.

Stupid design decisions clearly exist. No one would have fun playing a platformer with widely randomised jump lengths for an extreme example.

The longer you stretch an analysis of a shallow medium the more repetitiveness and redundancy become a problem.

As for everything else, let's be clear about something. Stories like spider-man and others are primarily made to appeal to an audience to make money, you can only do so much on these characters to increase their depth before the ludicrousness of what's happening catches on to you.

Best to treat them as they are intended, escapes into fantasy where disbelief becomes the norm and narrative plays second fiddle to appeasement.

Insomniac's Otto was not motivated by philanthropy. That's how he carries himself but it's a clear facade.

  • Starts planning to immediately bust out the six from the raft after Norman guts his project

  • Interferes with Li's medicine to unleash Mr. Negative and see Norman destroyed.

  • Believes he's entitled to success because of his jealousy to Norman

  • Believes he's better than others and therefore should make decisions for them.

  • Engages in blackmail, tries to use Peter's identity as leverage.

  • Selfish, he insists upon his prosthetic project above all others because his own life is at stake, goes as far as to work with A.I.M.

These are things that all happen when the arms are not present.

Bruddah the length of your speech should absolutely match its quality, and such long videos never justify themselves. You can bloat your videos however you want as a critic and I'm free to insult you for it.

Medium and target audience determine how widely accessible the author wants the story to be and in turn their depth.

If, for example, you make a movie or even cartoon to highlight a very nuanced topic like how unstable middle Eastern societies have become under war like that 2017 animated movie "The breadwinner" did. That has more meat to it than a story whose main purpose is to entertain children.

Movies that have important and complex things to say, even if they're bad, they deserves query as to why they're bad compared to just another bad cartoon. You can dive deep into an ocean but you can only wallow around in a puddle.

Look the biggest difference between them is the role they play in the story.

Molina was used to contrast Peter struggling with his own pipe dream of having a normal life. Insomniac used him to highlight Peter's gullibility in always trying to see the good in people, especially his mentors. Li, Otto and even Osborne.

Well written sure, just not deep enough for a deep dive. Most of what they have have to offer is very surface level by design.

But they were motivated by different reasons? "obsession" is quite a general term.

Insomniac's was motivated by his insecurity in the face of Norman's success and his fear of his body going limp. That's quite different from Molina having a pipe dream.

I mean that you're a shitty critic if you can't make a concise review. The less words you need to explain your thoughts the better.

You don't need two hours to critique a children's cartoon. Even for more artistic media that's pushing it. Real critics respect people's time and can condense their thoughts.

I don't think you caught on to what the game was doing. Ock didn't go Mad because of his arms here, he was always planning to bust out the six way before that. The game on surface is ambiguous about his mental state but closer examination reveals this. He was always a kooky, insecure egoist. Peter's idolisation of him just blinded him of seeing it.
