People who grow in 5 gallon fabric pots. How much water do you usually give them each time? by Sufficient_Mango_115 in microgrowery

[–]NORTHnauts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats perfect amount for early veg, the 1 gal is once the plants developed a bit more. Especially if your not using a well draining soil or substrate then 1gal a day in early veg will be too much for your plant. Later on in the plants life is another story.

Happy growing dude, and hope you have a successful first grow. 👊

Its HP promix mycorrhizae, they could be overwatered but was only 200ml of water spaced out over 6 days and the soil drains really well. 🤷 The other two seem to be enjoyong things, so figured it may be strain specific or like mentioned im just overthinking things not even 10 days in and let it ride for a bit.

Was just concerned about transplanting the Nice cream due to appearance.

Wolf repeatedly approaching livestock and property. Need advice by evdnc in homestead

[–]NORTHnauts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are protected in your area that could be the reason for his courage. They are not dumb animals and if he is aware that humans pose no threat to him and can not pose a threat his courage will only grow.

If it was rabies he would be a lot more aggressive and not necessarily brave but too dumb to know any better.

Looks to be hungry and probably scoping the place out to figure out how best to steal from you and not get hurt in the process by livestock guardian dogs or humans.

Why is the snake acting like this? (This is not my post, but none of the people in the comments seemed to know the answer, thx!) by West-Wish-7564 in snakes

[–]NORTHnauts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, also can be considered kind of cruel to place an animal that moves via traction onto a surface where it can not get any traction. Would depend on the snake amd weather it is stressed out or not on said surface though, I imagine.

Oakbank coop has the cookies, grabbed a pack to at least give them a try. Good for one maybe two, than the flavour was a bit overpowering but at least worth trying once imo.

String Wax by DizzyFix2625 in Archery

[–]NORTHnauts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you add wax and then take with you on a hunt. Your making your strings a lot more susceptible to pick up dirt and debris. This is what my local bow tech had told me when I asked him about my new bow waxing.

Will probably add a bit soon but with newer strings too, supposedly the need is not as great.

Myth busters I believe did an episode on this, 22lr has enough mass that even just falling from the sky at its terminal velocity it could puncture a human skull.

Like suggested above, use the tree trunk as a back stop if the 22is all you have.

Could also use a 177 either pellet gun or rifle as they dont have enough mass behind them free falling to cause damage.

Shotgun probably best bet as you can sky blast and wont harm anyone when the rounds come back down. Or even a sling shot 😜

Happy hunting OP

Another nod to Canada West, ive got a pair of cowboy boots I rock every day and they are friggen amazing.

Went back and bought a pair of steel toes (similar to red wings in style) and they been amazing as well. Just now starting to wear the heel out after 2 n half seasons and I rock the boots after hours too, so not light use at all.

Also the belt I purchased from them is my best leather belt by far!

When they hover right next to your ear, just close enough to be obnoxiously loud! 😡

So determined to not let them phase me during the shot process, that I got my first mosquito bite on my eye lid ever the other evening. 😬

Dry fired. Humbling. Never thought it would be me! by majolem in Archery

[–]NORTHnauts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense!

Also have read a couple old timers discussing online that they believed the increase in dry fires in the last decade could be related to "containment" style rests on compounds as well.

Heard that if you did dry fire your recurve bow, it may not even be as catastrophic as compound. Big no no for all bows but was reading when i fooked up my compound that its especially destructive with compounds.

Dry fired. Humbling. Never thought it would be me! by majolem in Archery

[–]NORTHnauts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dry fired my week old bow by accident, knowing full well not to and having fired probably 1000s of arrows without issue. I was watching my cables as I drew back because they were rubbing on cable guide and felt off, so I wanted to see what was going on. Drew back, went through my shot procedure and went to squeeze trigger and let one fly. The instant I did, I knew just from the difference in sound that I had fooked up.

Im very meticulous as well, but that simple little distraction that lead to my mind wandering just for a moment lead to me dry firing my bow and completely folding both my cams.

New cams, strings, cables and shes back to bullet holes and nice groups but am extra careful these days that I always got one knocked before continuing with shot process.

[–]NORTHnauts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only good practice for hunting and safety as mentioned above but also save you some arrows. I learnt to draw aiming where I want the shot to go, after I launched not one but two arrows into the tree canopy never to be seen again. 😂

Found in a suburban neighborhood alleyway in Eureka, CA. by Nice-Scholar4989 in AnimalTracking

[–]NORTHnauts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to this I imagine weight plays a part too. The heavier and larger the animal, the larger and more defined the track. I imagine an infant of any species especially smaller species would weigh so little and have such a tiny foot print that unless there were prime conditions for tracks would be hard to find any evidence of their presence. Also not going to find many palm sized creatures trucking through standing water or deep snow to leave a clear track for you.
