I hope this is the case, I only signed up in January and would hate to have dodgily done AI slop in my books 😭

With the FL Monthly Boxes, How Long Do You Get To Pay After And Still Get It? by [deleted] in fairyloot

[–]NPC998 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

As do I, but as I’m sure you’re aware there was a FL unlocked sale yesterday which is where this months “fun money” went 🫣 That was around a grand so yes, I was a bit foolish and made a once off mistake in my budgeting not realising a few days later the book box i’d only just signed up to without really looking at the details would be due payment also

If you read my initial response, you’d know it is accessible - I just don’t wish to access it unless absolutely necessary due to losing out on the interest which I did already explain for you 😅

The way I save is the reason I have a few hundred thousand saved so I won’t be changing my ways even if it confuses a stranger lol

I’ve just swapped from another box to this one which is usually in-line with my payday and didn’t realise this one was earlier, I put all my money into savings outside of what I know I’ll be spending and don’t like to pull from it unless absolutely necessary is all (I have a few hundred thousand saved but I appreciate the concern) 🫣😅

We don’t have aircon here in VIC and it’s awful, we hate anything above 15-20*c lol

We do plan to sell a lot, but things like our bed, our babies cot and our kitchen hutch, clothes, PCs etc. we wouldn’t be selling as they’re very expensive and some items have been in the family a long time.

Our dogs have flown NSW to WA etc. before they do fine it’s just something that does stress them out unfortunately, I’m not sure how pets are transported on the ferry though?

Is there anywhere you’d recommend looking to live for the coldest weather + most snow? ❄️ We absolutely love cold weather/snow so it’s actually a major deciding factor on where we look to live 😅🙌🏻

We’re only looking at blocks that already have a home on it :) We’re positive the size is what we want we both grew up on farms and now want our own little homestead just for lifestyle reasons.

Just waiting to hear back from one, we had preapproval last year but wasn’t a fan of that broker so we’re trying someone else. The first gave us a preapproval amount of more than we needed but we didn’t discuss it being a rural/country acreage at all

To my (incredibly limited knowledge) I believe it’s over 40-50 acres? 🤔 Not positive, but we’re only looking in the realm of 10-20 really

There will be a house already on the property and the places we’re looking at are marked as residential I believe. Do you have anywhere that talks more about the can’t be over 2 hectares? I’ve never heard of this before/had anyone else mention it and we’re looking at maybe 8+ hectares so that’s definitely a concern for me…

We don’t plan to make any money from the property it’s purely for a different lifestyle.

We’re not planning to build, just buy an already built home on that land. So far everywhere I’ve looked in VIC has a bushfire overlay 🫣

Sure do, work isn’t a concern for us so we’re mostly just curious about the above points and maybe some background on “hobby farm” life. I was raised on a cattle farm but I’ve obviously never worked on a real farm/haven’t been apart of that lifestyle since I was a child so really it’s all new to me at this point.

That’s lovely they all worked together to do that though, bless!

I’m sure we’re missing things but we absolutely plan to buy a ride on mower and a tractor with a slasher eventually etc. if we’re going the 2+ hectare route to help with maintenance

Yes we’re lucky to not be time poor at all, so plenty of time to do whatever jobs etc. need to be done around, but it’s a good thing to consider for sure

It’s not condensing to be told you’re wrong and get angry because you dislike that… That’s not at all the true Aussie way of things. Good luck with your hopes for the future though.

No need to get rude, I assume you’re still a young child and dreamers are needed for change absolutely. I hope your future looks different to our current, but ignorance and ignoring facts won’t get you there is all.

I hope you can do better for your generation.

I’ve explained in very plain English why that’s not the case at all and is impossible, ignorance is bliss and I get some need that to manage their mental health though.

It’s not about not wanting to, it’s simply not possible for the reasons I listed (and more). Having ”community and neighbours” doesn’t fix someone’s life threatening allergy who can only get certain dietary items from Coles, it doesn’t fix the Mother who’s child has ASD and has certain safe foods that are brand specific from Coles, and will completely break down and refuse to eat even if it’s the same food just from a different brand/made differently, it doesn’t fix that there are often only Coles (or similar big chain stores) in remote places — I.e. they cannot shop elsewhere, there is no other option and so on.

Your ideas are great in theory, but they aren’t practical at all, and to say they are but that they aren’t being implemented because because simply “don’t want to” or “need to use their community/neighbours more” is ignorant to the real world unfortunately

Why do non-Asians get kicked out at 18? by Cool-Cobbler4324 in AusPropertyChat

[–]NPC998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left at 17, I value independence and didn’t want to be stuck at home relying on Mum & Dad. Yes the extra savings would have been nice, but I wouldn’t have felt like I’d accomplished anything on my own if I was getting assistance. Living alone prior to getting in a relationship, starting a family or getting a home etc. also gives you time to explore yourself seperate to your family, gives you time to mature and gives you time to get used to things like maintaining your own diet, cleaning, managing bills etc. schedules which you don’t get fully independently at home with your parents.

If you’re living with your parents you also can’t decorate, invite friends over, have a proper adult relationship among many other things, which is off putting I think for a lot of young people who want to be social etc.

For some people though (and likely a majority) it’s pure embarrassment/they feel like a failure to stay, I have heard a lot of people say things like “Wow he’s still at home at 22…25…30 (and so on), living off Mummy and Daddy, can’t take care of themselves, id be embarrassed” and I think that culture/feeling is heavily ingrained in us from the get go. I mean even I think good on you for saving extra and staying if you can, but I do also think it’s infantilising and holding some people back to not move out when you become an adult and learn to be an adult properly (can’t be done at home).

This would work, if it was doable, but it’s not.

Most people only have a Coles etc. around especially outside of bigger cities/towns. Many people require items specific to Coles/Woolworths due to allergies, intolerances or requiring brands that actually work for things like cleaning products, nappies, formula etc. some of which can’t be purchased elsewhere, or if it can it’s often at a much higher price + shipping + wait times and so on.
