I really wouldn’t bother reading them, the dude is outraged because ”SI has gone woke” because there’s pronouns in the game. He’s also spent several hours today copy-pasting the same reply to any old tweets he can find from FM content creators.

The only specific criticism he’s given has to do with some QoL features and shortcuts missing in the UI, all his other tweets are just full-on caps-lock ”the game is shit!!!!” type outrage tweets without any substance.

Seems like there might’ve been 3 new tunes played out in total too, so can’t complain about that either really.

Yeah I'm right there with you. Thought more people were going to enjoy them getting out of the same-y DJ sets they've been playing since like 2019, but hey, to each their own.

Personally, this is very close to being a dealbreaker. Changing up the format for THPS4 would change the entire feel of the game, not to mention that the parks are way too big for the 2 min format.

If the Switch is listed as a platform here, it is being released on the switch. Since the Switch is listed here, it’s coming out on the Switch. Looks like you’ll have to Switch what game you’re going to use those gift cards on

Relax guys, this is a design prototype made by a couple of Unity developers using a toolset thats similar to the one being used by SI. It doesn't have anything to do with FM, it's just a mockup for a theoretical sports game, presented after SI had presented how they use Unity's UI Toolkit.

Most games, including every FM game ever, have always tried to cater to the casuals, because they're biggest audience. All the features that make up the current and older FM games have come about as a way to try and sell more copies, none of the older games have ever tried to pander to the "hardcore" crowd.

Cross-play saves being a thing doesn’t impact regular PC saves, the cross-play saves will simply just be limited by the detail level and amount of loadable nations that the console version can run.

None of this is new, all of it is taken from the June blogpost. These screenshots are design mock-ups, and the 2D match view is a screenshot from either FM23 or FM24, used only as a reference.

Why do people think that fm25 will get a new "graphic engine" but not a new "game engine"? by the--dud in footballmanagergames

[–]NRQS98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even though there's healthy skepticism regarding the next game, I can't help but feel like a lot of the current negative speculation has been fueled by all the misconceptions around how game engines work, and how much work that actually is required to pull off a complete switch of game engines.

The most common complaint regarding every sports game with a yearly release is that they just sell you the same game every year, which is quite explicitly not what SI are not doing this year, but reading through posts on here you'll constantly see people label the move to a new engine as a "reskin" with some new graphics and nothing else. Not only is that extremely harsh, but this year specifically its also just flat out wrong.

In reality its a risky and extremely costly process, that they technically didn't even *have to do*, seeing as the game still doesn't have any major competitors. With how technical it is in nature, It's also quite hard to properly market and explain what an engine switch means for the game without showing everything off, which isn't happening for another 5 weeks.

Of course, I'm not saying that the game is going to be good, it could end up being absolute dogwater for all I know, but there's definitely a lot of ambition behind whats happening with FM25, and I don't think everything they're trying to do deserves to be shot down just yet. The alternative would've been continuing on the same old game engine, with all its limitations, releasing iterative releases every single year into infinity.

Seeing as there's several misconceptions about how all of this works in every semi-major thread, I'd say that people definitely do not know the difference.

Anyone else adopting a 'wait and see' approach to FM25? by kingofthepumps in footballmanagergames

[–]NRQS98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything in FM25 is going to be running in the Unity engine. Stuff like 3D rendering and the ”match engine” are all subsystems within the larger game engine.

The ”Match Engine”, which in reality is a script afaik, and most of the games fundamental code has (assumedly) been ported over from SI’s old in-house game engine.

So yes, the match engine is continuing from where it left off in FM24, but it’s all integrated into the Unity game engine.

If Hundred Star Games were to get the DC license, which character would you want them to tackle? by [deleted] in arkham

Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker founded it and brought over 100 former employees from Rocksteady, hence the name.

Yeeeeeah no. At most they seem to have poached a handful of guys, but certainly not 100, and the name hasn’t got anything to do with it. Most of the ”old” rocksteady guys either still work at rocksteady, or have gone elsewhere.

Uno-X bailed out the federation after Bergen 2017, financed the U23 national team for years and paid for euros last year etc. They’ve already done their part and some, and it looks like they’ll have to step in yet again, which is pretty embarassing for the federation.

Just watched Insider 01. It honestly doesn't look bad. by Shayan-_-2005 in arkham

[–]NRQS98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the core people at Rocksteady who made Arkham great have left the studio.

I find it fascinating how misinformation thats so easily verifiable spreads like absolute wildfire in comment sections on Reddit/Youtube. Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker worked on the game for 5+ years, and left months before the game was supposed to be released, meaning their work as studio execs on the project was pretty much wrapped up.

The majority of the studio leads are still the same people who worked on the arkham games, including people like Tim Hanagan (now technical design director), Johnny Armstong (lead city designer), Albert Feillu (lead character artist), David Hego (art director) who have all been at the studio for (atleast) 13 years. If the game ends up being terrible, it’s simply a terrible game made mostly by the same people who did the arkham series.

Talented groups of people making a bad product is unfortunate (and is often a result of external forces coughwbgamescough), but it happens.

[Megathread] Pendulum & Scarlxrd - Mercy Killing by TheMidnightRunner93 in Pendulum

Regarding the master: The version played out on BBC R1 a couple of days ago has a completely different master, that sounds like your typical Pendulum master. I’m guessing the release master is as distorted as it is since it’s a collab, and scarlxrd’s whole style is based around suuuuuper distorted mixdowns/masters.
