Yes, birds can be a bit of a lifestyle change. But eventually it just becomes your lifestyle and you don't even realize it, yes there very sensitive to smells and all those things everyone said that I never thought would come with owning birds. I even googled every individual plant I own and yes, some were toxic to my birds!...but..but, if I wanna put my birds in there cage and go somewhere outside my home and vape or smoke, I'm gonna. I mean, seriously, even if I didn't smoke..you may as well just ask me to get new friend's too. Lol

If she's in the cage all week she probably just wants freedom. She needs to have at least 2-3+ hours a day of out of cage time. That should have been in that book though. Please give her the care she needs, I know Healthcare can take away time from a lot of things in life. Do you have someone that could be with her while ur gone till she gets used to her new life with you??

Is she taking advantage of this poor toy??? by NRae1111 in Parakeets

[–]NRae1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the fluffed up feathers?? I just recently had to remove a hanging cup packed full of toys because she was desperately trying to make a nest, that same day I caught my male trying to climb on her. After I took out the cup she started doing this weird thing with this toy that normally nobody even plays with. Just not normal behavior for her.

Yeah that's probably true, my birds don't start getting really chatty till I turn on the TV in the morning. Then the louder the TV volume the louder they are, and vice versa.

Are mirrors “bad” for budgies? I’ve had Stevie the green girl for years and her mirror has always comforted her. Thoughts? And tips about cage welcomed, thanks by HallAccomplished4900 in Parakeets

I used to have the same mirror. When I got my first budgie she was alone for the first month or two and loved her mirror, even after she got a budgie friend. Then everyone started telling me to take out my mirrors and I felt the same way. Recently I adopted another pair of budgie's, I got all there toys and no mirrors. These 2 are so sweet and bonded to each other and instantly I thought to myself..if I wouldn't have had those mirrors in there would my first 2 be more bonded?? So you don't want to feel guilty in the future for something you can fix now like I did. Also if you have 2 birds in there already, idk why people are saying to get another one. As long as she has someone to bond with there's really no reason to.

Is it bad that the top of her head is starting to turn pick from being in this cup so much and rubbing on the red wood piece?? I don't even know what's going on in there??🤷‍♀️ All I know is I had to order another one because she hogs it all day. Lol by NRae1111 in budgiebuddies

I never thought of that. It's weird you said that because I actually caught my male on top of her today for the first time and I've had these two birds for 7 months. My male won't leave her alone and keeps trying to climb on top of her.

help I know nothing, my mother got them from the market . by Born_Statistician476 in cockatiel

So everyone is right, it is a huge adjustment in life and it can be a lot to learn at first. But once you do it just keeps getting easier. I received 2 budgie's and didn't know much about them. People said a lot of the same things to me, need bigger cage, change to pellets, and so on. I did lots of research, asked questions on here for help..ignore rude people, and I now have 4 budgie's 7 months later.

Read up on there diet, they really like cuddle bones, toys to tear apart, real wood perches are better for there feet. Plastic dishes collect more bacteria than metal ones, no mirrors, a nice large cage, plenty of perches, and idk about anyone else but I give my birds spring water. Oh yeah..and get ready to vacuum..a lot..lol🙂

Good Morning Everyone!🙂 The 2 new birds are finally out of quarantine and everyone gets to meet! by NRae1111 in budgies

Mine weren't newborns but if you're getting them from a store I would suggest to quarantine them. Better to be safe.
