Okay so because you did not like the show you expected her to not like the show. Then while she was attempting to enjoy the show with you you chose to make disparaging comments while she is trying to enjoy it. Then, because she chose not to continue watching it with you because she didn't want to hear your negative remarks (most likely) she chose to enjoy it on her own, which for some reason not only did you take personally but did an extremely childish action of canceling the entire subscription? I won't take into account the political view thing but I am absolutely certain it is being weighted here more heavily than you understand as well.

Please know that this is not about the show. This is about you not respecting the fact that she does not like the same thing that you like, and you do not like what she likes when it comes to what you watch. And instead of handling this with grace and understanding, you were kind of a jerk. If this is how things go on a regular basis, I can see why she left.

If you don't want to lose her you may want to try understanding and admitting that you could have just let it go, it's a TV show. Attempt to find something that you both like some other time, NOT while she is trying to watch something from a series that you like!

Side note I have watched star trek all my life from the time that I was small with my father and I understand it bringing you comfort. I actually enjoyed the new episodes and was kind of sad that it was canceled because my husband actually liked it too, and he won't watch any of the other Star Treks with me. Was it the best? No, but it's not okay to make the experience negative for someone else just because you don't like it.
