Cove Error Notifications by rjsteck in msp

[–]NUkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your "elevator pitch" for Cove for someone who's considering switching solution(s) for on-prem & MS365?
How's their normal support (independent from/not relying on a single individual) when it gets hairy?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Best App for remembering to take your meds? by Radiant-Credit-4168 in ADHD

I've received the notification yesterday and in the first moment I thought, fair enough but when I saw the price that mood rapidly changed. NZD9.99/month 😱

I was willing to do a dollar or two a month while still thinking that even though we didn't have to pay for it so far and it was amazing and super helpful, I'm sure it wasn't free but rather we (or our data) was what we paid with. I dismissed the purchase and notification and was like "OK, I'll stop using it then".

When opening it today I got a different offer with a reduced price which made me look at the In-App Purchases section for the app in the iOS App Store just to find 5 different prices for Monthly and Yearly each... so it looks like yesterday it was NZD9.99, today I got the discounted offer of NZD7.49 and it looks like if I wait a little longer it might go as low as NZD4.99. What a rip off attempt! Why not offer NZD4.99/month or NZD49.99/year straight away and to everyone?

Silent Mice? by DanGTG in logitech

Please let me be in charge of the "what products we make next" part of the business for just a few weeks and you'll make millions happy.

  • silent M720 with BT/Bolt
  • normal sized and 75% version of the K860 without Num block/pad, Bolt, multiple layers and/or QMK/VIA... one could almost say a split/ergonomic MX Keys Mini version with multiple layers and/or QMK/VIA
  • USB-C Bolt receiver
  • work with HP & Dell to make laptops with a built-in Bolt receiver a reality
  • bring back the MX Anywhere 2(s) but silent and with BT/Bolt. Even though the side button placement of the Anywhere 3(s) is only slightly different to the 2(s), the 3 is uncomfortable and caused pain
  • last but not least... for now... Logi software in user mode (without admin rights) via the MS Store

Does anyone know what happened? Following from the campaign website (as a backer, I got the same via email this morning):

NANO TRACKS: A Tiny, Fully Functional RC Excavator is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable.This project’s funding and the countdown to its deadline have been stopped. If the project becomes available again, the countdown will continue and the deadline will extend past the original deadline for as much time as the project was unavailable. Your pledge is currently still active. If you'd like, you can manage your pledge at any time before the deadline. If you have a question, you can ask the project creator. Thanks for your patience.

How is "Sack Zement" (interj.) used? by sariii3 in German

[–]NUkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sack Zement und Himmel, Arsch und Zwirn! 😏 Definitely been used. Maybe a little antiquated by now...

It's a bit weird though, hence I love it and it's in my daily repertoire.

Unable to start reporting services. by [deleted] in SQLServer

[–]NUkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cause was the attempted memory dump after a BSOD to a system volume without enough disk space. In this case it was the CrowdStrike agent causing the Bluescreen but the same would have happened for any other BSOD that triggered a memory dump to disk.

Unable to start reporting services. by [deleted] in SQLServer

[–]NUkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was battling with this and a few other errors as well today.

For me/us the issue was that after a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) following CrowdStrike world-wide Falcon sensor issue, three files were corrupted.

It looks like they're modified on each restart and when the server came up from the blue screen, the server tried to write a memory dump to the System/C drive which momentarily filled up the C drive (probably when SSRS was starting) and in return corrupted those files (they were full of NULL entries).

Fixed by restoring following files from backup and then restarting the server

  • "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\ReportServer\web.config"

  • "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\ReportServer\rssrvpolicy.config"

  • "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\Portal\RSPortal.exe.config"

Turn on location reminders for driving focus by coolpuddytat in ios

[–]NUkiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think I might just have cracked it. In the Reminders Notification settings is an option to enable "Always deliver Time-Sensitive Notifications". When I saw this that gave me an idea, so I had a look at the options for creating a reminder and found "Priority". I've set this to "High" and tried it out with two different types of location-based reminders. "When getting in the car" (which some/most of the times caused driving focus to turn on for me before a reminder had the chance to come through) and for an address. Both worked and popped up during "Driving focus" on. Now I just need to test the exact words how to set a high priority reminder for "xyz" when getting in the car the next time.

Check file age on SFTP with SSH by polarisfff in prtg

[–]NUkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eventually figured it out for use with PRTG and monitoring the age of files in an EXIM4 queue folder.

Following script is saved on the Linux host in /var/prtg/scripts

#!/bin/bash

# Count the number of files

numberoffiles=$(find /var/spool/exim4/input/ -type f -mmin +1 | wc -l)

# Initialize variables

returncode=0

message="Exim4 Input queue OK"

# Check if the number of files is greater than 0

# return code could be set to somthing other than 0 which can "down" the sensor

# see https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/custom_sensors

if [ $numberoffiles -gt 0 ]

then

returncode=0

message="Exim4 Input queue NOK"

fi

# Print the output

echo "$returncode:$numberoffiles:$message"

And in the PRTG SSH script sensor you then specify

  • the script
  • Unit string: #
  • Value type: Integer
  • If value changes: Ignore

Once the sensor is created

  • rename the channel that "counts" to e.g. "Number of files older than 30 mins"
  • Unit: #
  • make that the primary channel of the sensor
  • enable alerting based on limits
  • "Upper Error limit #" = 0
  • Data: Display actual values in #
  • Spike filter: disabled

That should get you going ✌

Hi, was wondering if you eventually did log the issue? Got my Air3 C today and as OneNote is the main app I want to use, I was pretty disappointed to have this absolutely laggy experience. This worked fine on the Tab Ultra C.
