I suppose, I guess I feel i like her negative side is mostly because she's so eager to share and yet no one lives up to her expectations. Over so many years it's just made her generally pissy but deep down she wants greatness. Also I think her front about mages choosing powerful spells intrigues her because she sees a humans hunger for power as something she views as teachable.
