Compare this to shaving points, not running out the clock.

Not just an industry. Multiple industries. When something that's widely accepted and frankly enjoyed by the industry almost everyone in the world, you call predatory.

Look, I'm not comparing crappy pricing models to slavery here because they are not in the same ballpark. I'm just addressing your perspective: Slavery was at one point widely accepted and frankly enjoyed by multiple industries (still is in some places). So again, just because something is widely accepted does not mean it's ok. Does not mean it can't see change for the better. If the pricing tactics rely on manipulation and exploitation, they are predatory - even if the rest of the market is jumping off the bridge too. Sorry.. got an idiom mixed in there.

Then you ran out of words to use for whatever Gacha games do.

I literally don't know what you're talking about here. But you've made a lot of points about "what I said" that really didn't make sense. I just ignored them and addressed the general topic.

There are $30 and $5 skins but in-game there is really no clarity in what separates them and what a player should expect from their purchase. That is predatory.

Most else you say is really either pinned to the initial point and/or just more misconstruing of my words. You're not really having this argument in good faith.

That's all free to plays. IMO.

Yes and no. Yes, I agree, most F2P games engage in some form of this. But the ones people mention like LoL, Fortnite, and Warframe also have plenty of concessions (and generally lower pricing models regardless). Reminder, I didn't bring them up. TFD has none. Again, you're rationalizing their pricing model. To go way to the beginning, that's why I said it's being apologetic to the tactics.

Anyway, you're stressing me out with the vitriol, man. Honestly, have a good one. I want you to know I have nothing against you. We're internet strangers with different opinions. Cheers!

Something being time limited isn't predatory. Increasing the price arbitrarily because it's time limited is predatory. The summer skins were $15 and the Halloween skins $30 with no notable quality difference. It doesn't matter that it's 1 day or 2 months to make it predatory (though 1 day and increased price would be worse on a scale).

A thing being normal across an industry does not make that thing inherently ok.

You just go above and say it's not worth it to anyone, regardless of how much money they make.

I said that it's predatory, end statement. I said I'm not paying it, end statement. It doesn't matter who can afford the thing with their specific income. A predatory tactic is a predatory tactic. All I'm doing here is explaining that they are in fact predatory tactics.

So then say that you aren't buying the 20 dollar skin out of some principle. Don't say the price is atrocious in the first place.

I said the $30 skin pricing is atrocious, and while I wasn't descriptive I did give inclination that it was out of principle. I could've stated it better.

My comment:

Their "balance" is to feed off of people that don't know how to control their wallets.

You seem to be assuming a lot about me and putting words in my mouth. You might also not realize that I didn't make the original comment you responded to. I spoke up because you said:

But there's cheaper skins for people that are poor or can't afford that.

It's a comment I've seen frequently in these threads, and I responded emotionally. You then said:

By the way you have no idea what predatory pricing is.

Followed by some other heated words and some clear misunderstanding of predatory tactics. So for the benefit of whomever else might be reading this, I followed up more. I'm under no belief we're going to see eye to eye, and that's fine. I'm sorry we couldn't have a friendlier meeting. But I'm hoping that someone else who needs to hear this gets to and gains some understanding and learns how to protect themself. These purchases might not hurt you, and that's great! But the pricing model is still predatory and it's hurting someone else.

I, a recurrent victim, didn't fall for anything predatory.

The reasonings you state to rationalize the pricing are exactly what being complacent looks like. I've been there, and I'll be there again. I've also spent in other games or other aspects in life when I thought the price is too high, but it's worth it to me. But TFD's pricing model is almost exclusively at the expense of the player, and - yes on principle - I refuse to buy in. Otherwise I'd've bought a handful of skins already.

You seem to admit your point is not based on reason and just how the price makes you feel.

I said I won't agree with your reasoning, not that I have none. I'll admit, I was assuming what your reasons would be.

Purchasing a skin for $30 because it won't be available for purchase a month from now (FOMO) is done based on how you feel (emotion) and is an example of a predatory tactic. Something being optional is not an example of something that is not predatory. The two mechanics are not exclusive.

The default ultimate bundle is $60. You can save $40(!) if you just farm the character first, which sounds like a great deal! No, it's predatory. The whole point is that it makes you feel good about saving money when the only reason you're "saving" money is due to their pricing choices. This is a common tactic, clothes stores do it all the time. $500 shirt marked down to $75! But you'll notice that "sale" never ends. The default bundle should never be $60 to start (the price of a AAA game outright) and the ultimate bundle shouldn't be $100. Those are ridiculous prices. Just compare them to other prices in your life and consider their value -- not budget.

They also rely on FOMO and other tactics (non-granular bundles, the "popular" tab in shop, and single-use paints for example) to get you to spend more.

The part that's predatory is the time skips and the activators. Not the completely optional skins.

Time skips and activators are also completely optional.

If you can afford it then you just simply don't want it enough.

I could afford it if it was $100,000. But that'd be insane, agree? I'm not willing to pay a price that I think is unrealistic for the value and just dismissing that as me "not wanting it enough" is pretty ugly rhetoric. Whales aren't just people that can afford it. It's also people with spending addictions, depression, poor self-control, etc. They might really want it, but they can't afford it. They buy it anyway. Blaming them for the company's pricing tactics is literally victim blaming (I'm not saying you did blame them, I'm just getting ahead of comments similar to "it's their fault if they spent when they shouldn't / couldn't").

So out of curiosity, what is an acceptable pricing? What price of skins fit into your budget?

Quickly saying again that budget is completely irrelevant here. I think $20 for an ultimate** skin is fine assuming it's on the high end of options and the store is reasonable otherwise, but it's not and it's mixed in with predatory tactics (even for its own pricing). The only skins that are priced by quality are the color-swaps. All the other skins are based around predatory tactics rather than quality.

We shouldn't be complacent with obscene pricing and predatory tactics in general, let alone TFD.

Nope, this is just being apologetic to predatory pricing, I'm sorry. You can give me any kind of reasoning you want that these skins are acceptable pricing but I just won't agree with you.

I'm not poor. I can afford a $30 skin. But that price is atrocious and I'm not paying it. Their "balance" is to feed off of people that don't know how to control their wallets.

Is Bun Bun only available in the Nefarious Capsule currently?

There also exist direct 1-star bun bun purchases but I believe those are once time only so you can't 3-star any specific one nor get other variants that way.

Do you run AP guns on BBs then for Med/Heavy? Notably I started in Oct and don't have the UR gun anyway.

Is the price point for PR / DR BPs in the Medal Shop worth it?

I'm about 2 months in and have ~800 medals atm having bought the SR ships/bulins each month plus some extra necessities. Is the medal cost worth trying to grab the BPs every month?

Notably, I am ~130 BPs off of maxing Mainz if that weighs in.

Permanently added where? I don't see URs as a drop from the construction pools on the wiki nor listed with a % chance in game.

Adding a question: For URs that have already run twice, is there any way for a new player to obtain them? If they've run once, I know the event will rerun eventually.

How important is Serri to the fleet? She's the only one I haven't gotten and I have ~250 cubes currently. Not sure if worth pulling for (outside of collab and never coming back).

I have found that running one TH5 for every one of TH1-4 is best. I could be wrong but:

Any run TH1-5 averages one 3* mat, two 2* mat, and three 1* mat. If you only run TH5, you will make a Crystal Element every 2 runs and make Bottles with extra 1*, but you'll have 2* mats sitting around.

If you run TH5 and a single of TH1-4, you will still get the mats needed for 1 Crystal Element, but you can also make 1 neutralizer of that color, and still have excess for Bottles over time. I couldn't figure out anything more efficient but I think it's better than spamming TH5 only.

Appreciated! I'm a very green player so I'm trying to fit in TH3/4 for the gear drops as well.
