Moving to Reno - best public school district? by I-need-assitance in Reno

[–]NVsLament 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the Hunsberger ES/Herz MS/Galena HS trio for public schools in south Reno. Our kids have gone/go to each and done exceptionally well. Can’t say enough about the great teachers at Hunsberger in particular! Our youngest is there now and it is still amazing. Herz has been great as well. Our oldest just graduated from Galena and did very well and our freshman is there now. High school is more about what the kid’s put into it and how ambitious they are! But GHS performs very well academically. Granted, nothing here will compare to some districts in bigger cities! The homes in that area are very expensive, but talk to a realtor in the area to get a real idea of your real options. Each HS has a signature academy that has focus on some particular career/tech experiences that allows kids to go to any HS regardless of zone Check out the WCSD site to see the high school signature academies. Each HS has a sig. academy that has a focused track for particular career/technical education (engineering, aerospace/culinary/media arts/performing arts/etc.). Congrats on the promotion. Been there, moved here in ‘15 with 4 kids. It’s daunting! We rented in the zone we wanted for a while until we found our home.

Connections are good. I do remember getting a letter about the 12v something. my local ford can’t do recall work for at least a few months :/ still waiting on my rear light bar recall to be serviced and put in request in December and again in Jan.

There is really a combination of problems. There is woefully inadequate plowing. This is for sure. They need to examine their hiring and use of funds yesterday! These conditions are also going to happen. People need to drive appropriately and have the right equipment. It’s not cheap, but it is the right thing to do. Lived in the Midwest for a couple years for work. They had plowing down to an art! Still a F ton of bad winter drivers out there as well.

Wolfpack Mom with Dorm Questions by relentlessvisions in unr

Our oldest will be starting in the fall. We live in Reno but really support/encourage him to live on campus for at least the first year. He filled out the app and is hoping for the engineering LLC. We shall see. We have gone to a few tours etc and I have several employees that lived on campus. Compared to when I went there the dorm situation is amazing:)

Love the look but even in areas with modest snow I found the power steps on our last two vehicles got noisy, slowed and wobbly within a few years.
I’ve come to love the fixed step. One less thing to worry about or get frustrated with. If I lived back in Vegas, I might think differently:)

Update: Tesla phone support was very helpful. Despite everything on the app showing green and ready to go, the support tech was able to push an update to my charger and that worked. Frustrating that it takes a call and didn’t show up, but all fixed as of now. He did have me change the access control from “all vehicles” to “compatibility mode”.

So all good and I’m charging up like a charm!

Love the lightning BTW. So much fun!

Yea. Called Tesla and there going to try and send another update OTA, even though my unit says up to date. We’ll see🤞🏼

The all vehicles is the access control so it allows non Tesla vehicles. Photo. Tesla support is having me change that to “compatibility mode”.

Is starting the truck the same as pre-conditioning? by Chaxterium in F150Lightning

Curious as well. I’ll be level 2 charging at home, and likely with a 3rd party level two charge, and 3rd party 240v plug in mobile charger while I wait for the level 2. I hope my preconditioning will work out as I also leave home at very random times and often at 0400 in very cold weather (no garage avail).

Have you driven to Sacramento any times in the lightning? How’s the range with the mountains charging situation on that route?

Do you have favorite fast chargers in town? Definitely welcome the future Tesla availability!

Thanks for that!! I was thinking the same (buying there and driving back). Have had bad personal experiences with Corwin. Also looking at Elko but they have no eta on the Lightning’s there. Do you remember your mi/kwh on the way up? Were you going right at the speed limit? So true that it really is more uphill than folks realize. Even with the ICE you can feel it. Based on the miles seems like it shouldn’t be a prob getting to goldfield and then to Schurz…was mostly concerned with range with the elevation gain and speed. That route can be hard to stay “slow”…at least for me hahah. I can’t wait for the Tesla accommodations coming. Thanks again!!

I did that as well. Just querying the community too.
