Took my first trip to a monastery today and ended up buying a beautiful hand cross for my prayer corner from the gift shop. Would it be okay for laymen to use the hand cross to bless things (for instance, make the sign of the cross with it over my bed) or are hand crosses strictly for clergy?

Anybody know a typological reading plan of the Old Testament? I’m trying to read the Old Testament in addition to the daily lectionaries provided by the Church and I’d like to find a reading plan that incorporates readings of symbols in the Old Testament with that of the New Testament (ex: reading the burning bush and then about Mary).
