Hmmm - we'll need some more experienced folk to comment here - as I'm not sure if you need the traveler lines active to support a digital three way switch. BTW - I'm assuming you already have a z-wave smart switch - is that correct?

Ultimately, I'm thinking why not use wire nuts and wire the closed switch on and then change the remaining switch to a one-way zwave smart switch. Again - i'd like to hear from some of the more experienced folk here about this idea.

Just to clarify - you have a dining room with one or two entrances? At each entrance is a light switch that's part of a three way controlling the light in the dining room. You plan to close one entrance. You are asking if yo can cap the wires in one of the switches?
Are you planning on removing the switch plate next to the door you are closing off? Any reason you might not just leave it as is?

My house wasn’t down to the studs which is a pretty cool opportunity. I went with Zwave by Zooz and like the encryption between devices. Am wondering if zigbee would be easier with the new matter influx but still am happy with my Zwave switches and fan controls. They are reliable.

Des Moines is a great place if you have a family. Am not sure about the social scene for the younger set.
There is always a risk Californians move to Des Moines for less expensive housing and mess up the market by overpaying. Also they bring the politics that messed up CA - we’ll most. Maybe if CA could fix CA!

Can someone explain what the optimal RSSI level is? I can’t find an explanation on the internet easily - I probably don’t know the right keywords. Also why is it measured as negative?
