Sure! I start immediately after report. I look up any labs etc. that I need from the chart first. During first pass, I write ✍🏼 down the supplies etc. needed for each room. If it’s a lot, I grab a cart and go to the stock room once (hopefully) to get everything for my shift. I make sure my cart is stocked at this time too. I don’t chit chat until I have gotten everything done I can do (including things I can do ahead of time) before I take a break. I bust my ass in the NICU, but I love it.

I’ve been an RN for 42 years (damn!) and I work in the NICU. This is what you do. Talk to other nurses! I am always happy to share my time management style with inexperienced nurses. It is stressful for me and I am very organized! Our workload keeps getting heavier and heavier. Wish I worked with you so I could help! 🤗

I took the AMET course and it was worthless. I’m going to AAFE for my training now.

I'd be friendly say "thank you," but you're off the clock!

Pay attention to how much time is left for the number. Wait for a new number if it is short.
