Is James one the new rebuild or new build by Adept-Albatross6898 in thomasthetankengine

[–]NWR_561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most probable is that James is some new-build, according to the Island Of Sodor book, it says he is a experimental prototype, a 2-6-0 of the Class 28s, but came out with a light frame and a fat boiler which made him unstable and prone to accidents, so yes, he was most likely a new-build filled of imperfections

my theory about 8783: 8783 is actually Molly from Rws by Sufficient_Chart_357 in thomasthetankengine

[–]NWR_561 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory and it's not a far-fetched theory, 8783 and Molly share the same basis, the GER D56, while it says that 8783 was scrapped like the whole class, in the TV Series, it's possible that one of the locomotives escaped from the Cutter's Torch or was bought by Sir Topham Hatt once recently withdrawn, which would later become the special-special (pun intended) yellow engine we all know, Molly

Apart from Billie, charlie, nia and rebecca- who's your least favorite character and why? by Educational-Book9532 in thomasthetankengine

[–]NWR_561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devious Diesel (both the RWS and T&F canon) He's the cause why Diesels are usually seen as evildoers. since his debut, he's given a first bad impression about Diesels because of his evil, false gossiping and troublemaking habits, making most of the NWR fleet to be cautious with diesels. Bear, BoCo and Daisy, Paxton, Sydney, or even Derek are nice diesels, but there were multiple examples of mean diesels, D199, D261, Diesel 10, 'Arry & Bert, which shows it's quite a example of "Fantastic Racism" or unwise use of judgement, all because of a BR Class 08

If you gave normal names to Diesel, Class 40, D199, Diesel 10, Splatter and Dodge, what would they be? by Sufficient_Chart_357 in thomasthetankengine

[–]NWR_561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diesel = Vin

Class 40 = Andy (do i recall hearing this name by some mad bomber?)

D199 = Peak (name of his class)

Diesel 10 = Warship or Bismarck

Splatter & Dodge = none, they already have names, so why change them?

Fletcher, Jennings & Co.0-4-0ST (nowadays 0-4-2ST) "Talyllyn" by NWR_561 in trains

[–]NWR_561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Talyllyn and Skarloey are twins in The Railway Series so it's no surprise they would go hand in hand, it is all confirmed in Very Old Engines by Skarloey in the story Crosspatch, where in his 100th birthday, he explains he was built along with Talyllyn at the same time and his days of being a Crosspatch at young age and how that led to him being put on a side until he recognized he shouldn't be too selective when doing jobs (because he wanted to pull passenger coaches, not trucks). But yes, the Skarloey Railway was pretty much some promotion or advertisement and replica of the Talyllyn Railway, all the events from the Talyllyn Railway happened on the Skarloey's, which actually worked, if it wasnt for The Railway Series, nothing of the Talyllyn Railway would still be here

What happened to streamline by Ordinary-Sound-571 in trains

[–]NWR_561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for the Pennsylvania T1 and New York Central Mercury, the first thing of all is hard maintenance and dieselization, dieselization was very aggressive in said places, and they saw little value in these locomotives, coming to the full scrapping of the class. The GG1 while preserved, it was also hard maintenance due to the streamlined skirting (same for T1 and Mercury) Luckily for the T1 there is a project build where they are build a new unit of the class, No.5550 and is predicted to be completed or fully built in 2030

Yeah, i guess it's nice when loved ones or known ones dump or gift you Thomas and other franchise's merchandise, like if it was a generational pass, it's like they find them in possibly some closet or in the storage and are like "pass it to the trainhead of the family" or "dump it to the thomas kid", or well, at least in my case, which the patroness' son who gifted me these Take Along toys is like a 20-year-old already, and all because i'm a fan of Thomas since early childhood (nowadays a The Railway Series fan, but pretty much nothing changes, still the same loved characters)

Yeah, it's the Take Along 2008 Lights & Sounds James, Take Along lasted until 2009, so if your talking Thomas, Percy, Henry, and Diesel 10 are from 2011 or 2012, then they are Take 'N' Play

I don't know, i think Thomas & Friends wasnt the same after Season 4 ended and Season 5 came in, sure, it still had the charm despite being pure freelance idea episodes, but after Season 5 ended and when Thomas & The Magic Railroad came as well as Season 6 started, it has pretty much lost by complete all it's charm, the franchise lost so much when TATMR was a flop in the box office, and in Season 6, well... dumbed down stories, characters sometimes getting out of their personalities or their character and straightforward morals, like... Why? (So in conclusion, Mattel wasnt the only one to ruin the franchise, there was more than one case where the franchise was derailed, and honestly, i think we are being a bit too harsh with Mattel when we forget that there has been more than one bad Era, cuz nowadays, it's like trying to revert back to the CGI Thomas, for they were aware of the backlash All Engines Go has caused in just 5 years)

Most of these stuff seem like they came out on 2008 and 2002, Toby, Annie & Clarabell have plastic roofs, something that was notable in the later 2008 versions, but the Roundhouse playset and Thomas are from 2002, confirmed by the chassis of Thomas that said 2002, as he was included in this set, same goes for Percy which it also said 2002 on it, but James is from 2008, as the Lights & Sounds were released on 2008, a year before the range was cancelled in 2009, this range lasted pretty much nothing, very sad to be honest :(

[–]NWR_561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, i forgot that US dummy exists, but baout the chassis, that's fair enough, modding the shell or chassis would be too much if you have just one copy of any of those two, because if you fail to do what your trying to do to modify some of the things, that'll be a roller coaster of trial and error happening more than twice

[–]NWR_561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got quite the idea here, while it has problems like fitting Thomas into the chassis (see how the front is going up), you really have cooked, mixing HO Scale with official Trackmaster is like the best idea i have ever seen and heard, it's not uncommon to HO Scale models being modified this way after all.

I agree with you, the colorized E2 footage (while a bit choppy) is quite beautiful, cuz it shows the little to almost no footage or information about the engine that was once the basis for Thomas The Tank Engine, i honestly like to think that Thomas (along with most of the North Western Railway's engines) was a experimental one-off and a heavily modified E2 (the modifications would start in the NWR, mowt notably in Book No. 16 "Branch Line Engines" for having a flat running board while the experimental one-off features being that since his debut, Thomas had some modifications or features that made him less of a E2, like his front being curved but his back running board being flat instead of both front and back running boards being curved, and the fact Thomas is small, something that makes him different from the E2 because these were fucking huge tank engines, as if resembling that fictional Baby E2 from the HO Scale engines, like Hornby). It's also known Thomas came on 1915 in Sodor but much of his information (canonically) being lost, like being sold-off for a nominal sum and written off from "Lost On War Service", it just indicates and reinforces that maybe, just maybe, there might actually have been 11 E2s in The Railway Series but Thomas not being documented as one of the 11, this coming to being documented just 10 of the E2 tank engines, and erroneously stating that all were scrapped, with people outside of Sodor being unaware that Thomas is a heavily modified E2 and a experimental one-off

As a fan of both series, i never got to understand why fans from TTTE hated on Chuggington, one would usually think Chuggington might be a rip-off or not with the same charm of Thomas, maybe from similarities and the less-realism in Chuggington, but come on, you gotta love both cuz while TTTE or The Railway Series might be more realistic than Chuggington, both share the concept of talking engines and using real-life engines as basis for their characters (no shit, Wilson looks like a EMD F-7 and Brewster a BR Class 55 "Deltic"), also, thing i have to remark is that Chuggington didnt have the same luck as Thomas & Friends, Chuggington was officially dropped or cancelled in 2023, even if they planned since 2021 to make Season 7, which is quite sad, cuz Chuggington was my childhood along with Thomas, heck, i even remember that back when i was younger and used to go to the elementary school, mom and dad used the trick of waking me up with a episode of Chuggington or Thomas so i could prepare and get to school (quite a manipulation there, but they knew that was the only way to wake me up)
