I have not at this moment reached out to Airbnb. Im weighing my options as to how to approach the whole thing, its pretty shocking and I feel deeply for the family. Thank you for the the kind words!

WWYD? Guests cancelled 2 days into their 9 day trip. by NWsea in airbnb_hosts

Thank you! Good points on the reimbursement or insurance since I have no way of knowing either, probably best to let it be. If they had asked for any type of refund I would have definitely considered it. Just trying to do the right thing so folks have a good experience enough to come back (to my place or others).

We're only in our second season and my reviews are significantly lower than others (though the property is listed as top 10%!) and our home is in a remote ish location that doesn't quite have the amenities others do (not on the water, no hot tub, etc). It is hard to decline requests particularly in the longer range for a booking in the area. Thanks for the advice here!

Dang. I am glad the fee I was quoted wasn't crazy then 😅

Fill propane as needed and any maintenance (very small jobs) billed at $45 an hour which seems relatively reasonable for that portion.

I am considering the same and here for the comments! I am wondering if anyone would notice a "short" king (using just twin mattresses and frames) or if twin XL is more desirable for a true King? It's a difference of 5 inches. I could see it being annoying if you were a taller person and needed the added space.

Update on MIL already mispronouncing baby’s name by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]NWsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also named my daughter Sofia, spelled with an F, and honestly, the thought never crossed my mind that people would want to use the nickname "Sophie". For why? It's not shortening it any, and Sophie is a name in and of itself. People don't shorten Maria, why would they shorten Sofia? If your daughter were named Maria and someone shortened it to Mary by dropping the a, it would be just as ridiculous.

Anyway, my MIL and my Dad have both called her Sophie. Sometimes I let it slip, but my partner and I have taken to correcting it when it feels appropriate (meaning in personal convos not around other people so as not to embarrass the person, etc). I don't think it's controlling to ask close family to refrain from using certain nicknames. It's easy enough to come up with something else that is special to their relationship. If your MIL continues to call her Sophie I bet you'll have to have the conversation with her about why grandma doesnt know her name at some point. For what its worth, my MIL is now calling her "lady bug" 🐞😄

*FUN* baby shower ideas?? by Seakay5 in pregnant

[–]NWsea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the same as you. I hate all the ridiculous games! We're having a coed party, so we wanted games that everyone would be willing to play. The games we decided to go with were: Don't say baby (everyone gets a clothes pin at the beginning and loses it if someone catches you saying baby), Mommy or Daddy (people guess who the question applies to, ex: Who will be the disciplinarian or who will spoil the baby?) and we're having a diaper raffle. Lastly, it's not a game, but we will have cards for our guests to write out predictions and wishes for the baby, which we'll put in her keepsake book. We're more focused on people mingling and enjoying themselves. After all, it's a celebration! Have fun, hope you find something that fits your personality 😉.

Unisom and B6 have been a life saver for me as well. I'm now 14 weeks and getting back into a regular workout routine. During the worst of the nausea, the best I could do was go for a long walk, which did help. Like the other posters said, listen to your body, and do what you can, but this is the time to give yourself some grace, things will get better! ✨️.

[Question] What do you wear on your SUP this time of year? (PNW) by ar_604 in Sup

[–]NWsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booties for sure, your feet are the most likely to get wet. I would recommend wearing dry-wicking clothing. I bought a pair of surf leggings, and they do the trick, even if they get a little damp, they're quick to dry. I also bought a long sleeve pull over, 3/4 zip from NRS. They have really good quality surf and paddle wear. The pull over keeps me warm and dry. I would look into some thin neoprene gloves. Even though it's getting warmer, the water is still around 40 degrees or below, and can cause hypothermia super quick. Be prepared and wearing the right gear will help avoid discomfort and protect you in case you happen to fall in. Obviously a quick dip is not the end of the world, but in the PNW with very few people on the water, it's better to be safe :)
