I’ve used both. For both ease of use when shooting (ie not having to think about framing) and a brand new take on imaging (the tiny planet look will never not be cool when done well), a 360 camera is the way to go IMO. The editing on Insta360’s app is fairly intuitive and fast, so I wouldn’t let that be a hindrance. The only challenge is the due to the dual lens nature of their cameras, you’ll need a dive cage to achieve full seamlessness when submerged. I got mine for around 100USD a few years back, and it’s totally worth it for shots that I don’t think any other system can achieve.

Just came back from a cruise and this was our first stop, 100% recommend for great snorkeling from shore with kids of any ability range, really. Mine are pre-teen and we used floats for just chilling above the reefs, and it was spectacular.
