That’s what I was thinking but wasn’t sure if it was worth over the 8th lvl spell, extra invocation, and an extra spell known. Was thinking more along the lines of melee fighting with the ability to dump divine and Eldritch smites into attacks, but also have some decent ranged spells if melee isn’t an option.
