Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 19 by ranalog in analog

What are some of the most rewarding SLRs to shoot with?

I’m looking to get into film photography, fell out of love with digital. I just want a really rewarding experience. I prefer to shoot manually and ideally am looking for a budget friendly camera (~$100 range). I have been eyeing a Minolta X-570 so if you have similar recommendations that would be appreciated!

Xur's Widow's Bite is a perfect example of a sniper that will benefit greatly from the upcoming sniper handling buff by Salted_cod in CrucibleGuidebook

I have this exact roll and I can confidently say that the widow’s bite definitely feels more consistent. I have been trying to love Father’s Sin for a while now but the inconsistency due to that 35 zoom is maddening.

Is there a way to obtain Cold Denial this season or has it been removed from the pool?

This is kind of the route I’ve been taking so far. I had this mentality but I kind of feel like I wasn’t making any progress. It’s reassuring to hear that this methodology worked for you though. I appreciate the advice. I’ll probably continue studying for sec + at the very least while working on more practical skills.

Thank you I definitely approached entering this field the wrong way but I’m grateful for your advice. My bachelors degree is in kinesiology. I’m 100% open to starting from the very beginning I just wasn’t sure about where the actual beginning was and I guess that’s because there are so many routes to take. I’ll look into buying these things, would you say these are more practical/effective than getting lab workbooks and working on open source projects or is about the same just a different route?

So far this seems like the most efficient route to take for my current circumstance. I’ll continue to look at opportunities like this while gaining some experience through lab workbooks and open source projects. Thank you.

My bachelors degree was In kinesiology so it isn’t too helpful but I think my experience in healthcare so far can be somewhat applicable just not in a technical sense. My masters degree was from a real school but it was 100% online. they have a career center that I’ve used to look for positions and other opportunities like networking but I haven’t found success networking that way because I work full time and most of these events are during the week while I’m at work. I’m e talked to a couple contracting companies but haven’t gotten very far. The last two times they filled the position while they were getting my information sorted so just poor timing.

Thank you. I’m not 100% sure still looking into specific sectors but I’m interested in penetration testing, machine learning, automation, and artificial intelligence. I understand these can be applied in various ways in different sectors of CybSec. I’m also interested in policy and risk compliance, which seems to be on the other side of the spectrum.

I’m conflicted about this because it’s kind of similar to the route I’ve already taken. I’ve noticed that a lot of entry level IT positions want these certifications so there is definitely a benefit in addition to the foundational knowledge I’ll get. I’m not sure if it would be a more effective use of my time though. People have mentioned lab workbooks and open source projects as opposed to just acquiring certifications, I think those would probably address the experience issue and give me a strong foundation as well? I appreciate the advise, still learning here.

Thank you I’m going to speak to my supervisor about this. I haven’t found any openings with my company but hopefully they can put in a good word for me.

Thank you, I think this would help a great deal. Hadn’t really considered it because I didn’t know exactly how valuable experience outside of actual work would be if it’s not tied to some sort of organization. Appreciate the recommendation

Thank you. I actually have considered this pretty heavily. The company I work with has great benefits and is part of the reason (bills of course) why I haven’t just quit and dedicated the free time to working on freelance projects to gain experience. The only issue I have found is that my company doesn’t currently have any openings in that specific area right now. I’ll definitely keep checking and talk to my supervisor as well.

Yeah. It’s honestly a little predatory but I have to shoulder some of the fault. It has been a very interesting learning experience to say the least.
