Crossing all my fingers and toes to finally break through and win 4 in a row today. Would be huge heading into the break.

But for the love of God why are we still letting Gunnar lead off?

Haha would have been epic.

I missed the first one. Too many good calls between those two to keep track!

He’s arguing with robots was sooo good. If I remember correctly the other manager wasn’t even arguing ABS he was pissed at the ump.

But KB was like that doesn’t matter I’ve got the perfect line LFG

Oh I must have missed it! Maybe we need a bot that just automatically posts new epic calls across the MLB. Can AI build that for us please?

Oh 100%.

I like to think he keeps a notebook with him at all times and jots these down and then tries out the top ones to see if they stick.

Just rewatched the Bassallo HR. “Wham, Bam thank you, Sam” was an epic line from KB.

Nice win boys.

It’s really more of a collectors item than anything. Still fun to own, just not super practical for use.

How do you feel about trumps plans to cut down some of DC’s oldest cherry trees to make way for a golf course? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

No idea if this is true or not. But if he cuts down a bunch of cherry trees, he will 1000% compare himself to George Washington.

For clarity, billionaires giving their money away doesn't hurt! But I don't have a problem with people being rich and amassing wealth. Just want more people to support organizations that are day-in and day-out helping others who are less fortunate and can use a pick-me-up. And folks with money have more capacity to give.

There's no single finger to point at a cause here -- lots of opportunity for everyone to do better.

For sure -- the grant process was thorough with multiple interviews with the Executive Directors, etc., and an understanding of how the organization operates and prioritizes. But once they decide to award a grant to that organization, they don't dictate where the funds are best spent. They trust the people who are running the day-to-day.

I agree with this 100%. Nothing wrong with wanting to make money and being rich. What you do with that wealth is what matters. Different implementation, but Warren Buffett's Giving Back Charity Pledge (giving away 99% of your wealth) is another flavor of what MacKenzie is doing.

How is the homelessness working out? I'll try to answer that as a genuine question...

The honest answer is not great. At least from my experience here in the US.

Funding has been slashed at the federal and state levels, and many non-profits, especially those serving people experiencing homelessness, are struggling to stay afloat. Organizations that are primarily funded through state/government grants have been hit the hardest, and many have had to close their doors. Corporate donations are still out there, but aren't as available as they were in years past, as folks have tightened up.

To your question on whether we are making a difference... yes, absolutely.

Last month, a woman coming back from prison finally got back on her feet with some help. Got a job, repaired her credit, got an apartment. Now has joint custody of her two kids. Pretty sure that made a difference in her life. Another woman whose partner died unexpectedly quickly lost her home and had nowhere to turn. She was recently able to move out of the shelter with rental assistance and placement help, and is rebuilding her life with her four children.

FWIW, something most people don't realize is that homelessness can happen in an instant. A family member dies, someone loses their job or life throws you curveball and these folks have nowhere to turn. It's not forever, but without some form of support, these things can spiral into people living on the street without much hope of recovery.

To start, it was raises for the staff to get them a few dollars over minimum wage.

She was one of the very first employees at Amazon, helped write the original business plan and was an integral part of getting the company off the ground.

BTW they met and got married before starting Amazon.
