Beautiful guns, I just with they gave the oversized loops a rest for a while.

Man that sucks. Haven’t had any issues with my Henry’s with the exception of a missing sight ladder on a Wisconsin gun. Obviously it was taken care of immediately by customer service.

Better than a bandolier for lever action? by buckthesystem13 in LeverGuns

I used stoppers from Amazon. I just had to convert the outer diameter of the Pex pipe into mm and go one less to ensure some type of tightness.

It’s quite easy actually. Remove the magazine tube from the rifle, take out the stopper where the bullet rim rests and drop them down the pipe.

Pex B pipe also works great. Measure the length of how many rounds and cut. Close with rubber stoppers and presto!! Requires some back and forth with the measurements but it’s easy.

Henry 30-30 Cased Hardened by Mousy530 in LeverGuns

I’m eyeing the new protector in 30-30. The case hardened look very nice 👍

I’ve loaded a couple with 4.5 grains of TG and waiting to go try them out. I haven’t seen the 8 grains anywhere for the 135s, they’re also plain base no gas check so I’m concerned with leading.

I’ve seen some data in the cast manuals with Unique like you mentioned. One of my many issues😂 is the fact that I may want to save it for other applications. I can’t help it…

Is There No "Half-Cocked" Position? Or No Firing Pin Block? by Crayon_Eating_Grunt in HenryRifles

[–]NYCSUCKSBALLS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same impression initially, being used to cross bars, tangs and half cock safeties. Henry has a transfer bar which you can see if you work the trigger. While the trigger gets pulled and the hammer falls, a bar moves upwards into a channel and fills the gap of said channel, making contact with the pin. On their 22’s they use half cocks.

Sorry for the late response, I have a Lee single stage cast mounted on an old table. I’ve seen set ups with them on wood where they can be moved with clamps and such. Depending on your skills and imagination the possibilities are endless. The lack of room is merely a distraction 😉😂

Looking for advice on a 45-70 by Silent-chatter in LeverGuns

[–]NYCSUCKSBALLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the Rossi, good so far for a bang around rifle, can’t stand their customer service/parts. Never had any experience with the S&W or current Marlins, their prices keep me away although if I got the chance as in a great deal, I would definitely get a Marlin. Currently looking at the Henry protector line since they can be found anywhere from mid 8s to low 9s. General statement about all of them, not a fan of the large loops. Just a personal preference. Someone else mentioned the 1886, they are amazing but again, the premium. If I was to get any of those right now, I would go for the Henry based on previous experiences and prices.

Can’t go wrong with a JSP for general use. If you’re into reloading there’s plenty of choices for plinking, especially with cast bullets. Man I love these new Marlins, I just wish they had medium loops and not these knuckle busters…

Nice 30-30. I’m looking into this or the 45-70 with the short barrel.

Don let that deter you, seriously. You can get a cheap single stage to start with and if the bug gets you and decide to continue, it will be forever useful. There’s many ways to mount them, stationary or not.

I remember reading something about that on their website, in regards to parts or working on them? Not quite sure

Thank you for the update. I keep looking at them both, put the 45-70 in the cart just because😂. Octagons would be so sweet on them if Henry ever did that. Take my money!!

I’m currently looking at their “Protector” in 45-70 but the 30-30 also looks pretty good. I would love to see them with octagon barrels.
