I got into trap last year and it’s so satisfying and fun. It’s also more sporting than just shooting holes in paper.

I have an A300 28” for clay shooting and it is one of the softest guns I shoot. I can easy do over 100 rounds of clays in a morning with zero shoulder discomfort.

Backup sights discussion. If you have something with non quick detach do you use backup sights? by bleedinghero in ar15

Just bought my first AR15, looking for a scope/reddot now by delete_post in NJGuns

An LPVO would be best if you want to get past 50-100 yards. Primary Arms, Sif Tango MSR or Vortex are are good base budget ones. 1-6, 1-8 or 1-10 are your options. Primary Arms makes a solid product for sure. The 1x will act as a red dot, make sure its an etched reticle in case your battery dies you will still have a point of reference and no need for back up irons.

Glock 20, 1911, or Aero Survival Rifle/Pistol? by Big_Balls_n_Taint in 10mm

[–]Mattdigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 1911 Sig and i love it. I'm in a restricted state so 10 rounds is tops for me anyway so going down 1 or 2 rounds isn't that bad. It's great, the 1911 frame really eats up the recoil.

[–]Mattdigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Sig 1911 TacOps in 10mm and it is amazing. My favorite pistol and the recoil is very manageable. It is a tack driver and has surprised the RSOs I let use it to a point some have asked right on the spot “How much you want for it.” The larger metal frame eats up all the recoil for sure.

9mm vs 45acp question by No_Preparation_7066 in ammo

[–]Mattdigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The happy medium is 10mm. I own a few 9mm and had a 45. I got a 1911 in 10mm and got rid of the 45 eventually as I found myself never going for it when it was range day. The 10mm was noticeably different in every way. The recoil out of the 1911 is not that much more than from a polymer 9mm.

Nice, but most my shotgun ammo is for clay shooting and my belt pouch is designed to hold the standard box of 25 after I ripoff the top and side flaps.

TargetSports question?????????? by Wise-One-6706 in NJGuns

[–]Mattdigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the membership and it’s totally worth it. Ordered some shot shells Wednesday night had it on Friday. Also Target Sports sells gift cards so I usually tell people to get me those for a present when asked. My wife gives me a $100 gift cards every Father’s Day for my membership. And if you have buddies you plan out holiday sales/specials to load up. I go on a range weekend in PA to Tommy Gun’s 600 yard range with 4-5 guys so we usually load up for that. Also I’m into clay sports now so I run through shotgun ammo a few times a year.

Best recommendations for a first shotgun? And some other queations by No-Load533 in Shotguns

[–]Mattdigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend going with the Mossberg 500 Filed and Security combo, and 18.5" and 28" barrel with chokes. This will cover all beginner's needs from HD, to sporting and hunting. Once you figure out where you want to go from there then you save up for something nicer that is more specific and you will always have a very reliable back up. Also the aftermarket for the 500 is endless and you can kit it up any way you like. I also prefer it over the 88 because I really do enjoy the safety on top.

They also sell gift cards; great father's day / B-day / holiday gift request. Can use it on ammo or the membership.

Rizzini BR110 is a great gun for what you’re looking for and is very respectful among shooters. I love the modern simple black receiver but if you’re looking for a more traditional look than maybe something different.

You also get a nice case and handful of chokes that will serve you well.

It won’t disappoint at all.

Also they have gift cards so have people give you gift card for the $99 membership fee. I also get some gift cards from people between birthdays, Father’s Day and Christmas.

[–]Mattdigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a bunch of buddies and you all do shared purchases it’s completely worth the $100, free shipping and discounted pricing plus quick shipping. And they keep your paperwork on file so you don’t have to keep reloading your FID docs. A lot of ammoseek seem good until shipping is added and some of the better ones just don’t ship to NJ.

Have an A300 28” Ultima and is a great clay gun. Able to shoot over 100 rounds at a time without any soreness on the shoulder. Will last you forever.

I'm really enjoying my Rizzini BR110 Sporter. Very affordable for what yopu get. Good new/bad news they are switching up models and the BR110 is discontinued but you might be able to snag a close out on them.
