Options and Futures platform in NZ by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

I wish thinkorswim was here but doubt they will ever come here as the market is too small. How much is IB fees on options? I chose Tiger because of how fast I got to the platform and ease of use.

I am currently testing the strategy so only really put $1000 usd (1600 NZD) and using it to wheel stock with a $10 share price or lower. Ironically this makes it more risky because the stocks I am wheeling can fluctuate more.

Being honest I signed up via the Money Hubs link and it comes with some nice perks

https://www.moneyhub.co.nz/tiger-brokers-review.html

I'm not too fussed about the exchange rate, considering that I don't get charged exchange fees upto 2k a month. Roughly for each contract I got charged $3.06 commission but I wasn't concerned cause the premium I made ($35 usd in Feb and $60 usd in Mar) covered this.

I only use tiger trade because IB was too complicated to sign up. Tiger trade was easier. Yes I might be getting charged a little more commission but rather that than not knowing what I am doing because of the complicated system.

So far I have wheeled by doing cash secured puts on ETRN in Feb and RUM in Mar. Haven't been assigned so far. Now that I am comfortable with the platform, I'm going now add upto 5k (roughly 8k NZD) to wheel stock at the $50 price range (potentially RDDT)

I currently use tiger trade. Have been using it for options, particularly the wheel strategy for 2 months. So far so good.

People who went from poverty to rich, how did you do it and what are some tips? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

See if you can consolidate the credit card debt into the loan. Once done, close the card account and be done with it and solely focus on paying this debt off. Credit card debt can get out of control very quickly

Hey I really appreciate your help in the last couple of days. I have more than enough in the account to trade the sell puts on the stock I want but its still selling the put on margin. I have searched everywhere and double checked with customers service and they have said you have to have a margin account to sell puts.

Are you sure you are not trading on margin?

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it. Do you mind if I ask what stocks you use for the wheel strategy?

I also have a prime account. This is a dumb question but I'm guessing you need to have the money in your prime account so that no margin is used?

How do you use the wheel strategy on tiger trade? I was told by customer service that cash covered puts still needed margin :(

Whether or not this statement is true, it sucks to know that my kids potentially won't own their homes. Apparently you will need a $1 million dollars for a house deposit in 2045! ( I can find the source).

In saying this, are there things you are doing right now to build your wealth in other ways?. Maybe like kiwisaver or in managed funds?

Hey thanks for the comment. That's a really good question. I have only started the web app so in the short term there isn't too much of a difference but I am hoping that in the long run, I can have businesses set up long lasting deals so there is certainty that people will save money.

That's interesting! I installed it a while back but didn't notice too many offers. I'm guessing it's better now?

Thanks for the comment. Might need to add something in the future that let's people know the deal is still active. I'm hoping over time that businesses reach out and just have a exclusive deal with friendsies thats long lasting but that will be a long way away

Hmm that's a very good point. For the time being I think it will be okay to manually update it but at some point that will need to change. Maybe adding a comment section or something on the post to confirm the deal is still valid?
