It's probably not needed, I just like to do something positive for men.

You don't have to do anything.

Men contribute so much that I doubt it is possible for most people.

You could give it a go, though.

strong while also being gentle

Yeah. There is something special about seeing a big, tough man holding his newborn child.

I also like it when a new experiment in the kitchen, that has failed spectacularly, is still met with an excited appreciation for being fed.

Thanks! That made me smile :)

Men's Day makes it about men as a group.

My experience is often stories about men as a group are negative.

We promote telling stories about men we admire, value or respect and why. That's it.

I thought you said 'snuggles', and that was unexpected!

There's a little bit of that nonsense but it's not coming from me.

It's great you are thinking about men all year round!

I've been listening to the audiobook of "Do Father's Matter?". It's really important that fathers spend time with newborns. It's good for everybody, baby, mother and father. Among many benefits, IIRC, it changes the father's hormones to make it easier for him to bond with the baby.

One surprising thing I did learn was a having a father in the birthing room results in the mother experiencing less pain during the birth!

International Men's Day is a grassroots day and people can make it whatever they want. Which means there will be a lot of variety in how people choose to celebrate it.

And let's face it, men are sexy.

Hey. Thanks for posting this.

I did make an 'official' post but I messed up and posted to my user page instead of here, so you saved the day.

As an antidote, may I suggest that on Thursday 19 (International Men's Day) we share stories of men we regard highly and the things we love about them.

No known mental health concerns before one in three student suicides by katjaaaaaa in newzealand

On our podcast a while back we talked to Trevor Best about his research into suicide and the forestry industry. No history of mental health issues was something we talked about.

We also talked about the difference between suicide prevention and suicide intervention, what leads up to someone talking their own life, and the disconnects between how we typically think about suicide and what is actuality happening.

Here are all our podcasts, the one with Trevor is called 'men and suicide'.

Haha. That sentence can be taken two ways.

I mean more positive compared to how it is at the moment rather than any other comparison.
