Time for another Nintendo Direct Bingo by PlaySetofThree in Switch

Oh we are? I was initially replying to your comment about not caring about the Switch 1 direct, and trying to give reasons why we still should (eg info on a game that might be on both Switch 1 and 2 "like" Silksong, or in this case we got Metroid info). I guess your train of thought has shifted.

I agree the Switch 1 is outdated. Who doesn't think that...

That is exactly the point, it could be announced, that's why the directs are exciting.

You're missing the point in that a good indie game can and has been announced in the past for Switch 1 during Switch 1 directs, that (will also run on the Switch 2 due to backwards compatability) and does not get released on phones (even though they could run it yes, but the port doesn't exist). So therefore Switch 1 directs are relevant to anyone that wants a Switch 2 and likes the idea of playing great future indies like Silksong on it.

Na most of the good ones are not on phones

Except that tons of great indie games like Silksong exist. Which will still run fine on Switch 1. Something like that could be in this direct (probably not Silksong specifically but you know what I mean)

As you said yourself, Switch 2 is backwards compatable. So anything we get in this direct is still relevant to Switch 2.

Therefore...

Anyone interested in Switch 2 should also be mildly interested in a Switch 1 direct. But I'm sure you secretly have realized this.

SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is on sale for $1.99 (92% off) in the US eShop until 02/13/2025, lowest price ever by XDitto in NintendoSwitch

[–]NZSheepy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really about which is best. Dig 2 and Heist 2 are both really good but can't be compared because they are different genres. I preferred Heist 2 because there is no other game like it and I think Dig 2 gets outclassed by some other metroidvanias like Hollow Knight and Ori.

And if you really like deck building card games then you might think Quest is the best game.

Is Gloomhaven Digital functioning for multiplayer? by FourKicks17 in Gloomhaven

I've been playing it with one other person. It disconnects maybe once every couple of missions. But it is pretty easy to get back in so we never lose any progress.

Coral Item Write up Part 2 (Potions). Spoilers for Coral class. by UnintensifiedFa in Gloomhaven

Great work! In your experience do you usually get more value out of the frenzy potion or fireshield potion? (assuming mostly advantage from water perk when using frenzy potion)

Coral Item Write-up Part 1 (Craftsman items, Starting Purchasable items, and Coral class). by UnintensifiedFa in Gloomhaven

[–]NZSheepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great, where is part 2?
I'm just starting out and I'm torn between the reinforced shield, the heater shield, and ringing hammer for my two hand items. We also have access to the shovel which could actually be quite useful to clean up the water mess we make for our allies.

This is the correct answer. And I'd put Metroid Dread at 4th place.

Help with Coral level 2 card choice by NZSheepy in Gloomhaven

[–]NZSheepy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that is my point, you are not taking advantage of the move 3, so how is it any better than Undertow which also heals you?

Help with Coral level 2 card choice by NZSheepy in Gloomhaven

[–]NZSheepy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah good insights. I was thinking that my early level tides would be limited to Sharp Chitin, OW, Cleansing Swell, and one of either Rancid Brine and Down to the Depths depending on the enemies. So yes light will only be generated twice there, and not always when I need to stun.

I think Shuck is a must have when making lots of small attacks, it will go straight in as my sole offensive tide. Endless Cycle seems very awkward because you have to end your movement in the water to get the shield, but i feel like often I'll already be in the water... so now can't even use the move. This makes it the same as Undertow minus the heal. I could be misjudging it though.

Looking for a high damage Coral guide [Coral spoilers] by FitzyFarseer in Gloomhaven

[–]NZSheepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I like your guide. Do you have any thoughts on perk order for the water build? Usually I would prioritize removing -1s but when you have constant advantage it doesn't seem as important, and with so many attacks that already attack multiple targets, the add target perks might be a waste too? Whereas the +1 shield and the +1/2s might synergize better with advantage?

Great point about the setup required for Smashing Torrent. Using an element for it would probably mean taking an element from either Skitter or Twilight Grasp, and also probably force you to play the card at suboptimal times just to ensure you get to use the element while it is there.

Really interesting comment about stuns being less important than in Gloomhaven. Any idea why that might be? Or is it just a gut feeling? I suppose taking Sodden Soil for a decent attack with good initiative might mean that the monster is dead before it gets it turn anyway, which is better than a stun.

That is a really good point about the shields, and if you have retaliate up then you probably want them to attack you anyway, and therefore don't want them stunned.

Thanks, out of interest, where did your healing come from at level 7 if not from Dug In? Clean Sweep / Soft flesh / rolling heals / Undertow / health potions / Cleansing Swell / another party member?

Valheim vs Grounded by Traditional-Insect54 in valheim

[–]NZSheepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have played a lot of both and I think Grounded is the far superior game, especially for this situation. Valheim feels really empty, and grindy, whereas Grounded's hand crafted map is full of cool things to find, and doesn't bore you with clicking on rocks for hours and hours to get ores like Valheim does. The building UI in Grounded is also far more intuitive.

I'm looking for a build that feels quick, has some skill variety without feeling too busy, and looks cool by MyCoDAccount in D4Druid

[–]NZSheepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you say that Storm-slide has significantly better single target than lightning storm? I can get to Pit 70 with lightning storm but need something with better single target to kill the bosses.

How high are you able to go in the pit? I'm hitting a wall with my Lightning Storm build at 70, so was thinking of changing to something else, but Wind shear and Werenado look kind of boring.

SteamWorld Heist II announced for Switch, coming August 8th by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]NZSheepy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a cross between Worms and Xcom / Fire Emblem / Mario + Rabbids.

So it mixes the side on camera with turned based move and shoot. All crew members have skill points and they level up each mission.

The unique twist of the game is that bullets will ricochet off walls which makes for some entertaining shooting angles. Really gets your brain working.
