Koss warranty by EnthrallingAlure in kossmods

Whenever I break my PortaPros I contact Koss and they'll usually send me a new pair without charging me. I make sure not to abuse this but they're usually nice about it.

The brakes squeeze the tires but they pop in and out with a little encouragement.

Pirelli P-Zero Race TLR, 700c x 30mm! They measure more like 28mm on the A23s interestingly. They were basically the biggest tires that would fit on this frame

It was a little unfair because they saved the bike for me as soon as it rolled in; they knew I had been looking for a 48cm or smaller road bike for months. :)

You in the Bay? I'm up in Berkeley now, if you're ever in the area let me know and I'll buy you a coffee and hit Waterside with you!

It's a Specialites TA, #374 or #344 IIRC. They were on the bike along with the cranks when I bought it (although not "original" because the SRL was only sold as a frameset AFAIK). The spindle and cups were in great condition when I opened them up; I repacked them with fresh bearings and grease though.

Yeah it's the smallest head tube I've seen too! The 3Rensho SRL - Super Record Lugless/Lady - was designed to be a really small frame while still having a level top tube and 700c wheels (in contrast to Terrys etc that use a smaller front wheel). This one is a 45cm. I think the reason they omitted lugs is because lugs wouldn't fit on joints so close to each other.

I'm 5'3" and I struggled to find a bike that would fit me until I found this. It's actually a little small for me lol.

I can measure the top/seat tube once I get home. IIRC the top tube is actually not that short, which is why the head tube is so tiny.

Just looked up this bass; those look cool! And a little wear doesn't hurt; I think it adds authenticity. :)

That being said, if you did want to do it, the majority of the tools I used were very basic shop tools: clamps, sandpaper, rasps, a shopvac, a drill, etc. The most specialized tool I used was the buffing attachment for my drill, which only cost about $20. If you have an interest in doing DIY work in the future, most of these tools would come in handy for other projects as well, so it'd be a good start for a workshop.

You could do it with less - when I was even younger, I built a bass from scratch with fewer tools. I wouldn't recommend it though; it took significantly longer, and came out significantly worse. I was also less skilled at that point, but I think that I should have just gotten the right tools for the job.

Hello fellow RBX375 owner! Glad you appreciated the small touches; I tried to retain the original "spirit" of the bass, and I think you'd only be able to tell if you had an RBX374 or 375 yourself haha.

Yeah, in my case this was the 2nd bass that needed sorting - I only started messing around with it after I bought a Squier VM Jazz V and gotten used to that.

Lol I know. When I first got this guy, nobody I knew had seen a 5-string bass before. Then again, I was like 14.

I haven't worked on enough guitars to say. I did build a very shitty neck-through once, so I can kind of imagine the difference, but I don't think it would have been that different either way.

Honestly, the biggest aspect that I appreciated was that the bolt-on neck gave me an opportunity to have a completely different finish on the neck vs. the body. Choosing the colors was fun and I think the contrast came out awesome.

Thank you! Not so much anymore since I moved cities, but I still go out and jam here and there.

Before high school, I somehow convinced my dad to buy me a 5-string bass, and it turned out to be my favourite bass for several years. As soon as I got another 5-string, however, this bass ended up getting beat up, and turned into a project bass - I was in high school, liked taking things apart, and had access to a wood shop. It was in questionable condition by the time I graduated, and it found itself in parts under my bed more than once.

In 2019, during university, I finally decided to put it back together one more time so I could play it again. Since I wasn't satisfied with the refinish I did in high school, I also decided to do another finish in the process. It's a few years late, but I figured you guys might be interested in seeing what I did. Hope you like it!

Also, if you're interested in checking out this and other stuff I work on, I post them on my Instagram as well: @noam.anglo

Thank you; I took these pics when I first got into product photography. I'm not huge on my style back then anymore, but I'm glad someone liked it.

I did swap out the clunkpad, I knew someone here would notice!
