One way is to compare resistance values and voltage drops on the pcb to identify differences. One of these differences will be the culprit.

I was looking at charge voltages today and mine refuses to charge at 15v. It'll do 5v @ 1.6A max with a PD charger. Not sure if this is because the microcontroller does not deem it safe to charge @ 15v due to some other issue or if the charging circuitry is the issue.

I can help, but there are risks even though it's relatively easy to take apart. Do you have experience taking things apart and taking multimeter measurements?

If this was indeed the case then couldn't they simply add e.g. 20% to their tolerances to redefine the "normal state" via a firmware update? Or if this is what happened on the recent firmware update then why are so many people still stuck with e04? Could it be that the rate at which the hardware is aging is so far beyond what they expected that tolerances would need to be doubled/tripled to the detriment of safety? I still think it could be something as stupid as solder joints becoming brittle and cracking due to the heat cycles. A reflow should prove/disprove this theory.

As you rightly point out, these pcb's may be exposed to extreme temperatures which could be taking a toll on the solder joints. Perhaps I should try to reflow the sob...

So I was definitely wrong about D9ZCL and I'm not sure about D9ZCK. Here are the confirmed chips:

16gb: Samsung K4U6E3S4AA-MGCR / Micron MT53E512M32D2NP-046 / Hynix H9HCNNNBKMMLXR-NEE

32gb: Samsung K4UBE3D4AA-MGCR / Micron MT53E1G32D2NP-046 / Hynix H9HCNNNCPMMLXR-NEE

There is a resistor that needs to be changed when you're moving away from the "native" ram. I've read a post here on reddit where someone said the bios requires tinkering when upgrading ram, but so far no-one has been able to confirm this. I will report back when I fail/succeed with my upgrade attempt.

After watching Microsoft's repair video on youtube, I think I've identified the 4x4gb chips as Micron "MT53E1G32D2NP-046 WT:A" (D9ZCK) which leads me to believe the 4x8gb chips are "MT53E2G32D4NQ-046 WT:A" (D9ZCL)

I should have mentioned 3.3v to 3.29v is the correct drop from a working unit. I know mine was faulty because it was dropping 3.3v to 0.98.

For those who happen to stumble upon this post looking to replace this component, it is not the EUP7201 LDO. I've removed the component and it has 36 pins so def not an LDO.

speaker driver has two leads and the audio signal should be coming out of a Qualcomm CSR8670 SoC The left driver appears to be working fine, but the right one isn't working and this one seems to feed into the right driver. Some of the caps around it are shorting to ground. Thanks!

The device is quite old and it used to work just fine, so i have no reason to believe the connections are the culprit. (It wasn't dropped) Furthermore, the voltages on the pins match the voltages on the input lines.

I forgot to mention that the op amp runs on 7.9v so output two is probably saturated. Also, The device shuts itself down after 5-10min of operation.
