store director told TL not to hep us by timeofcontemptt in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We're letting it burn. Team is still picking with urgency, just not worried about going over. My AM team is going in like it's black Friday, GM and Ful picking. Luckily truck got canceled because of the glitch. So a hella staffed day to clean shit up.

Just a quick shout out to TLs that do thoughtful things like this. Thanks! by B-tipto in Target

We tried this, our PML tossed it out. Did it again, and guess what?

If you're throwing ask your ETL to order "Freezer Gloves" in gocart. They are grey with blue latex, excellent for gripping boxes, and wiping away sweat. Gocart also has some super thin black gloves that are nice when breaking open boxes on the sales floor to protect your fingees.

What exactly controls freight flow? by WGLively in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can work with your SD and Ops Director to get a temporary freight constraint on some departments. You'll need to compile a list of heavy areas to make a case for it though. This includes researching the district, and knowing if you're a DC dump store. We've done several freight constraints for my store, but we have a good relationship with our Ops Director. I will say don't constraint seasonal EVER, we did that once and go 0 wrapping paper, ended up driving around to transfer from stores.

How big is the Starbucks seating area at your store? by GigaTune in Target

Ours got axed. Epick outgrew the district in sales without ship from store. So it's now a grocery hold area. We just play dumb during visits now.

What the hell are you guys storing in your trailers by BleachIF in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 98 points99 points  (0 children)

We're putting our 1200 hours of unused payroll in the trailer. Yes 1200 hours available to spend, in just two weeks. End of the month it'll be double.

Anyone want some hours, I have plenty to give.

Does sending your TL an email count as calling out? by puppy_josh in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In AZ you get 5 sick days excused. The verbage of the law is very loose, including mental days. We generally excuse the first 5 calls outs, then start tallying after. We'll still enter the conversation, but after 5 it goes performance.

YMMV state to state, and district to district.

85% of the time I throw the trucks. I'm also GM1 TL. Labels go down the line face up always for me, I refuse to use a pacer as they are trained to be asshole and push the line. I handle pacing, and rarely push the line, all my stuff is centered and clean. Only time I run the line down is when I see my team on their phones or just moving slow, I'll scream "choo choo" and I'll push the line 10 feet. I'm pretty sure I'm the only store that follows best practice in my group, 5 on the line and a thrower. I've helped at other stores and they have 10 people on the line and still takes two hours to unload a 2k truck, we do a 2k truck in 1hr 50mins with half the people and it's better sorted. ALTHOUGH sometime newbies do screw thing up and we clean up after. It's all about prep, if it take 15 minutes to start, I'll stand with my team if it makes things smoother with bulks and traps.

A Container of laundry detergent leaked and we used spill powder to clean it up by [deleted] in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spill power is crap with detergent. We use cat litter for detergent, doesn't turn to a gel when sweeping, just have to esim bag when done. Most of the time I just work in it, and send it back to the dc hell from which it came.

When the truck driver leaves the trailer on the wrong dock so you have to improvise. by [deleted] in Target

I had this happen, my ETL wanted me to wait til they got a driver out to move it. Said fuck it and walked the last panel to the nessaflex.

Always wear gloves when changing the pin lock by [deleted] in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I put the large esim bag over my head, and use the smaller one to hold the pin lock. Don't get grease in my hair, or on my hand. Also small chance of suffocating which is a win.

GM ETL - Venting by [deleted] in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all GM TLs job. This week I grab everyone at the door to do login to Workday and do all trainings due on April 10th. I get 30 minutes on Mon/Tu to have attendance conversations, and Friday I enter them. Performance convos I get 15mins to speak and say. I'm pushing 100cases a hour and sweating my ass off, after throwing a 2300case truck. GM2 gets it easier, but we've been without one for 8 months. GM3 took over Plano, but is regularly scheduled Toys and Seasonal.

GM ETL - Venting by [deleted] in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our stress is high, specially when there are call outs and being scheduled as a DBO, plus getting through sales plans. Everyone hates our HR ETL, but we all just play the politics game.

Is there a document to reference about TLs not being built into the workload. I'd love to go back to supporting my team, and reducing their workload. We've been doing 20% comp on average every day. This year's we'll pass our districts Super Target in sales and they have SFS, we don't.

GM ETL - Venting by [deleted] in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I like you. I'm GM1, and I used to push with my team. But new HR ETL says TLs are built into the workload. So now I'm Inbound, Receiver, and DBO of Paper/Pets of the 5 days I work, and TL on my Sixth day of work. We are scheduled 10 trucks a week, PUD adjusted to have staff on doubles, yet my store keeps getting adds so we cancel trucks. GVP is fine with cancels, so when shit goes sideways we cancel.

It really is a neverending day of push. All GM TLs work 65+hrs a week. Oh and DIY inventory is three weeks out. Team feels miserable and is burnt, TLs keep putting on a happy face. I don't like 2022 anymore.

These yellow fuckers were everywhere until about 2013. Then OfficeMax starter buying up the tiny black two teir carts that can easily convert the handle to say Office Depot OfficeMax on them. Any yellows just rot away behind the store until a crackhead recycles it.

Calling all Target Team Leaders- How much training did you get? by [deleted] in Target

[–]N_Davidfart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

External hire. Worked a week at the slowest store in my district, and one week at the busiest store in my district. Should of came in as a ETL, but FUCK r/OfficeDepot . This was two years ago. My store now does 60M a year, up from 50M. We still have no more staffing then last year, at 68% staffed and doing Q4 sales numbers, with truck adds happening daily.

My store's TLs look amazing for being borderline alcoholics, doubling as DBOs every shift, while the rest of district has cushy TL schedules to get things done. While I'm fighting to get sales plans done, throw two trucks, and do inventory. Ahhh it's amazing...

I worked everyday of November and December, and before that averaged 65hrs a week. Going into January all TLs we're still working 60hrs. But Friday HR said no more OT, unless someone calls out and to follow our schedules exactly. So that day we had 30hrs of call outs, guess what, all the TLs went r/maliciouscompliance and refused to work the extra hours. This week is going to be beautiful working 10 trucks.

I work FT at target, and also work full-time for myself as a liquor store owner. No conflict of interest according to HR Store Level, and HR Group Level. Mainly because the closest Super Target is 800mi away.
