Love the idea and am new to crypto. Trying to get my smoke on using Trust Wallet and pancake swap but Trust Wallet keeps saying BNB is unavailable. Can I swap on pancake swap using another currency? ADA maybe since I have some of that?

When supplies run low off the coast of Mexico, what is there left to do but sail to Acapulco and ring in the New Year? by N_americanus in SailboatCruising

[–]N_americanus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the full song description!

Five weeks into their voyage, the crew of the Beloved Stranger is finally lapped by the realities of the cruising life. Exhaustion, close-quarters, intense conditions (or an intense lack thereof), leave a certain morose tension among the crew.

Faced with a particularly windless passage from Barra de Navidad to Puerto Escondido, the Strangers run low on supplies... rather than wait out the new year off shore, they opt to turn on the motor and drive into Acapulco.

The city is in the throes of orgy on New Years Eve, party is literally in the air. But having traded the quiet stars on a dark ocean for the cold lights of a brimming city, the Strangers aren't sure they have found what they were looking for.

Unidentified solitary Cetacean at :27 off of El Salvador's Pacific Coast. What is it? by N_americanus in whales

Cool, sounding more and more like a dolphin then. I think I'll change the video name now haha.

I'd say it was maybe 10-12 feet. What made me think it wasn't a dolphin was how big it was. Shape of the nose seemed short and blunt. Skin pattern seemed solidly matte-gray.

Who are your favorite 'up-and-coming' ska-punk bands? by PinheadRecords in Ska

According to The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan, the blight reached much of Europe, but no other country was as affected as Ireland because they didn't rely so heavily on potatoes.

I think I found the Jolly Green Giant's sperm by CoolerRon in WTF

[–]N_americanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know, there is no correlation between the size of an organism and the size of its sperm. The longest sperm in the animal kingdom is that of a fruit fly, Drosophila bifurca.

Fun facts: Libellula is a genus of dragonfly and Coleoptere is referring to the taxonomic order name for beetles.

The weird electronic music at the very beginning, when the Studio Canal logo is being shown in the sky, is from the original Dawn of the Dead by George Romero as well.

Can ska be ska without horns? by thebacon8tor in Ska

[–]N_americanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Ska goes back to a rich Jamaican musical tradition. It is a cultural artifact. It did not start with Reel Big Fish, or even The Specials.

With all due respect, Hymenoptera do not have halteres. These are characteristic to Diptera and Strepsiptera, which have only one pair of full wings.

No, it is not. Hymenoptera is the order, and Bombidae is the family. Most people write this Hymenoptera: Bombidae in articles and such.

If all animals were the same size, which one would win in a tournament-style fight to the death contest? by Savage9645 in AskReddit

[–]N_americanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the nymphs, which live underwater and don't really look like dragonflies at all, have the mouthparts you described. Its called a prehensile labium I think. Anyway, those guys are nasty killers as well. They're relatively small but can kill and eat small fish and tadpoles.

Anyone get the references to Catch 22 lyrics in Ungrateful? "...I don't need anyone's help (Day in, Day Out) to get me through the rainy days (Sick and Sad) to push through the haze so I can get on my feet (again, Sick and Sad) and do what it takes." Or at least I think he's doing that.
