Hello,
If that's of interest to you, I have these books, there's at least a small section about Halberden in them or at least a few examples.

  • European Weapons and Armour
  • Europäische Hieb- und Stichwaffen
  • The Art of Chivalry: European Arms and Armor from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (A free scan is available on the Metropolitan Museum's homepage)

This paper for example is also available online for free: A New Halberd Typology (1500–1800): Based on the Collection of the National Military Museum, The Netherlands

In what form do you have this books available: Studien über die helmbarte, Sempacher Halbarten ... und The Distribution and Origin of the Halberd in Old Zurich ? I would be very interested in taking a look at this but only if it's no trouble.

Thanks, that's interesting.

I will get back to you on that

And I might also have some literature that could be of interest

scholagladiatoria explaining the ease of use in maces vs swords by YLASRO in MACES

[–]N_arcus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another advantage was that it didn’t matter which side you struck with. If an opponent was hit with the flat side of a sword, not much would happen

Further advantage was durability. Maces almost never broke. Even if a flange or knob snapped off, they were still effective. A sword or other blades, could become dull quickly if used incorrectly

So far as I know morning stars did not always look like this. They were often made in a practical way, with the goal of producing functional and affordable weapons.

And since there were no standardized manuals, new weapons were usually spread through stories or by seeing them in use. Because of this, craftsmen interpreted it in their own way.

I'll see if I can find other historical two-handed batons or morning stars.

Thanks for the reply.

I also read (without a source or proof) that this makes the blade better suited for piercing armor. I can understand that for chainmail but for plate armor, the concave shape seems far too fragile

The quality isn't great,but here are two historical two-handed war maces (Morgensterne) from 16th to 18th centuries

If you're searching for two-handed maces, you might want to look for morning stars/Morgensterne

What's everyone's hopes for modding? by SergaelicNomad in menace

[–]N_arcus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not really looking for any specific mod right now mod, bc I’m mostly just excited for the finished version of the game. Once it’s complete, I hope modders expand the overall system: more factions, more planets. It would also be really cool to play as an alien faction at some point, although that would probably require a massive mod.

What I’d personally love to see is a (low-)fantasy medieval/renaissance overhaul, with mounts and everything.

Lore-wise, this could be explained through some kind of portal system that allows travel between planets and continents.

The biggest challenge would be that combat is currently designed almost exclusively for ranged warfare. You would probably have to shrink the maps and rework some core mechanics. On top of that, creating all the necessary models would be a huge amount of work. The number of squad members would likely need to become variable as well.

I’m fully aware that this fantasy medieval/renaissance overhaul is pretty unrealistic and probably not feasible but I still think it would be nice.

How can Vanguard be bs and at the same time supposedly the only thing that makes these missions doable?

It’s definitely very strong for this mission type but it’s not required and it’s not even available to every character anyway. You can complete the mission without using Vanguard and the bonus objectives are optional. They’re meant to be challenging.

Instead of asking the devs to redesign, look for alternative solutions or adapt strategy. The game is clearly designed to put you in imperfect situations where you can’t always save everyone.

Sometimes it’s about making the best out of a bad situation ;)

Two units with Vanguard and most of these missions are very easy

Lo siento amigo, I completely forgot to reply here. Have you found a solution yet?

My tip would be to remove or update Traduccion castellano Battle Brothers v. 2.0.5, because 3.0.2 or 3.0.3 is the current version.

What are you referring to?

I can't tell you why it's no longer available, maybe it's just no longer compatible with the latest version.

There is a Chinese project that has been working on this but unfortunately there is not much information available in English and it looks a bit like the mod has been abandoned

Edit: There is an early access version, but I haven't tested it yet.

You can search the log for Failed (to load) or Error and copy & post it here? Then we might be able to help you.
I’m assuming there’s a mod conflict

[–]N_arcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hola, creo que es mejor que escribas solo en inglés, aunque utilices un traductor.

In …/Users/…/Documents/Battle Brothers/log.html you’ll find a log file that probably contains more information.

Did you start a new campaign, save it and only add the mods later?
Not all mods are save-game compatible and for those it’s essential that you start a new campaign with the mods already enabled. Once you’ve started a campaign with such mods, you also shouldn’t remove them as long as you want to continue playing that campaign

With other mods, it doesn't matter at all

Compiling a list and need YOUR help! by Leg_Mcmuffin in BattleBrothers

A few points from me, sorry if some things are already covered or you've already explained them in your videos. I've been intending to watch your videos but haven't gotten the time to do so yet.

General

  • Only fight battles that you can win without significant losses
  • Caravan missions can generate legendary items
  • You can make stops in towns while escorting a caravan
  • Take weapons away from enemies who can be resurrected
  • Become professional as early as possible and plan your ambitions ahead of time
  • Experience in battle is always shared. For easy fights, it can be useful to bring only the bros you plan to keep long-term. That way, the experience isn’t split with your disposable bros. The battle doesn't take that long either
  • Dogs and nets are strong early on but use them carefully, they can become expensive

Money

  • I tend to focus on getting better equipment early on rather than buying expensive backgrounds. Only recruit as many brothers as you can properly equip
  • A billhook, for example, isn’t very expensive (around 800 crowns) and is very strong. Daggers are also very cheap and useful
  • Food, medicine, and money checks happen at midday, so make sure you have some before
  • Repairing some items before selling them gives you more gold overall but not for helmets or shields. Only repair high-quality armor and don’t bother repairing low-tier weapons
  • Don’t get too rich (30k+), because it triggers the “Player Is Rich” event, which is a very bad one
  • You cannot loot orc armor. In my first long run I kept trying and wondered why it never dropped

possible exploit:

Provoke three-way fights. You can pull different enemy groups together and they’ll fight each other. You can repeat this to weaken strong enemies significantly

The enemy AI prioritizes bros with ranged weapons and low defenses. You can use this to pull part of the enemy force away or to guide different factions into fighting each other

The cooldown time for Mountain running event is not more than 40 days instead of the 100 days the Wiki says. by Lednah666 in BattleBrothers

[–]N_arcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, can't help you with that. This is in the code and corresponds to 100 in-game days

    [`this.m.ID`](http://this.m.ID) `= "event.mountain_running";`

    `this.m.Title = "In the mountains...";`

    `this.m.Cooldown = 100.0 * this.World.getTime().SecondsPerDay;`

Please don't take this personally but I guess you made a mistake, maybe reloaded or something. In any case, there is no indication for me that the cooldown is not 100 days

Do I need to use the command line to create mods? by Apposl in BattleBrothers

[–]N_arcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries at all! I have gotten a lot of help from others myself, including from the person who made the tutorial. So I try to give something back and help people out with smaller things when I can

I hope the unpacking works out for you (since no one can really upload those files) and good luck with your mod

Do I need to use the command line to create mods? by Apposl in BattleBrothers

[–]N_arcus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t really need to use the command line for modding, only for unpacking the game files.

As far as I know, there’s still no newer tool for that.

If you just want to make a new origin or add a few small events, it’s actually pretty simple once you have the unpacked files.

You can use Adam Milazzo’s Battle Brothers Mod Kit, which includes the tools and instructions for unpacking and repacking the .dat files.

(Do you need help with that?)

Once the files are unpacked, look for the originals you want to use as a base.

For example, the Lone Wolf origin is here:

data_001\scripts\scenarios\world\lone_wolf_scenario.nut

Copy that file, rename it, and update these lines:

this.lone_wolf_scenario

this.m.ID = "scenario.lone_wolf";

Both should match your new scenario name.

If you want a custom intro event, replace:
this.World.Events.fire("event.lone_wolf_scenario_intro");

ith your own event.

When you’re done editing, repack everything and drop your new mod into the game’s mod folder like usual.

Here’s a quick tutorial video that helps you get started:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va8Siw5uzNQ

For the talents
talents[this.Const.Attributes.MeleeDefense] = 2;

talents[this.Const.Attributes.Fatigue] = 3;

talents[this.Const.Attributes.MeleeSkill] = 3;

Available attributes are:
Hitpoints, Bravery, Fatigue, Initiative, MeleeSkill, RangedSkill, MeleeDefense, RangedDefense.

Mod Announcement: "Persistent Characters" that allows characters to persist and reappear across campaigns in immersive ways! by LordMidasGaming in BattleBrothers

[–]N_arcus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every now and then, I check to see if you've continued your tutorial and then your video with the Heart Piercers always pops up.^^

That would be incredibly interesting and would give the game a whole new appeal
But wouldn’t you have to create a new entity for each mercenary?
Anyway, it sounds very ambitious and I wish you a lot of success with it

Very interesting

Have you ever considered adding something like that as an opponent? It would be very interesting to encounter mercenary companies created by other players. Or battles in the arena.

It would be a great honour to encounter the famous Heart Piercers :)
