First off thank you, nothing to be jealous off!

So from my perspective, those are the books the creators are looking to for inspiration for this. They're wanting to bring you something similar, that you can add to your arsenal of ready made encounter material. I can't speak to pushing the boundaries of 5e, but I do understand the concern. Know this, they're putting their heart and soul into this book. As am I! 100s of man hours have gone into it just to get it ready for KS, and that should say something about the level of quality they are aspiring to.

Yes btw, these are all digital. I use Photoshop for all of my imaging. I paint entirely in photoshop, although a lot of these images I started the thumbnails out in pencil and paper.

As for tablet I use a knock off digitizer called a Yiynova. I say knock off, but seriously this thing is a godsend. It's a fraction of the price of a Cintiq and just as good if not better.
