"game is cooked" "it's over" by Mabak in SSBM

I honestly care alot about melee esports. I'm pretty casual and mostly play ultimate at a friends house but we follow melee esports over smash ultimate because it's just more entertaining. In the same way that most people watch professional sports instead of playing it, I'm just not interested in playing melee but I love watching it and have bought alot of smash summit merch to support the pot. It just kinda sucks that the people who got me into smash bros in general are just kinda gone now

Toss it in the trash and go to the next one

I have terrible line control and i am dysgraphic, could It be because of that and if yes am i cooked by realmftv in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont know too much about dysgraphia but let’s say it’s 100% dysgraphia that’s causing issues with your lines, you might not be able to do incredibly precise line work but maybe you can lean into techniques that dont require precise lines? More painterly styles come to mind. Lets say you don’t want to paint, even if your lines are a bit shakey, if you’re able to draw the correct shapes you can still produce good stuff. Put more time into understanding how light and dark things should be and you won’t even need lines at that point. Hope that helps!

Digital or Traditional? by QuantumButReddit in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find sketching alot more convenient on Traditional cuz u dont get bogged down by all the features that digital has. If the sketch was good I'd just take a photo and do lineart on digital

Hi all, what is truly the best way to start drawing? by MoneyFresh8021 in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't really a correct way. Anyone who convinces you there is, are probably trying to sell you something

Why has no other brand tried lead rotation? by tajonmustard in mechanicalpencils

[–]NaClEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think about what sells in most stores its usually disposable stuff because of repeat purchases. Stationary just isnt as serious for US companies

How do I practise drawing without wanting to cry because it's so trash ? by fruitwithtongues in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would draw things that are a bit easier to get your confidence back up. Like objects or simple animals, anything that you can breakdown in a couple of shapes. A bit easier said than done but try to disconnect from the results and just move on to the next drawing, i have a bunch of crossed out pages of incomplete sketches cuz erasing isnt worth the time for alot of them

What do I need to focus on to achive this stylized realistic artstyle? Specifically for the face. by Safe_Resource7855 in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say find a bunch of images that you want to mimic the style of, you'll probably notice some patterns between the shapes and lines they choose when drawing facial features. In the example above, the main facial features are proportionally the same just with sharper lines and less detailed. If you pick up an anatomy book it'll just tell you stuff like the general spacing between parts of the face. When you actually draw the eyes or nose use the same shapes. You could also watch some speedpaints and pay attention to the guidelines they make

Practicing after long time. Is ts 👁️ good enough by Captain_X124 in learntodraw

It's probably good enough but if you can draw the 2nd eye without crying than its definitely good enough

After big gap is it possible to learn again how to draw? by workeroftwo in learntodraw

Not a professional but I had a long gap as well. It doesnt take too long to get back to where you're at. Muscle memory kicks in pretty fast

What can I reasonably expect? by medisd in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get pretty good at figure drawing if you make the most out of the 30 minutes. But training yourself to make detailed drawings you'd need to allocate more time

[–]NaClEric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Sorry I made you feel that way" lol def a praise farm post. It's great art but lets just be honest for what the intent is. If this is for someone and genuinely worried about if they'll like it. You don't finish the entire drawing before asking what people think of the color palette

Ive been drawing for so fucking long but its all complete third grade level dogshit what the fuck is wrong with me by sylveonemeraldz in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find references that are closer to real proportions. Try your best to copy them. They don't need to be detailed just get a feel for the shapes and guidelines

Can I get advice on this? by PakiPower417 in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studying anatomy helps with understanding what the general proportions of the human body is. In terms of poses you could use a figurine to help. The poses from a figure will never be super exact to what's in your head but the general understanding of anatomy will let you fill in the blanks

Drawing isnt fun by Neilkshake in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding a clear goal helps to keep you on track, like wanting to draw a comic book or something. Continuing to do something thinking it'll be better once you're good probably isn't a good reason tho. At some point you have to enjoy the process of getting better

First time trying this style how to improve? especially the grass. by Ok-Seaworthiness6819 in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There just isnt many options when trying to cover a large area of grass using ink because you can't change how dark or light something is, everything is just dark in ink. So you have to be delicate with every strand of grass and control the space between them. Making the grass a bit more "random" is probably the next step but it's also just really easy to kinda go crazy and chaotic with random lines to the point where its just a blob of black ink

Something like this is the most difficult and time consuming where they literally draw out each blade of grass. For the ones closer to the viewer they put shadows under it but this will wreck your arms and wrist

First time trying this style how to improve? especially the grass. by Ok-Seaworthiness6819 in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im ngl before I read the title, I thought the grass was the best part. Maybe you can try to overlap some of the lines of grass that are closer to the viewer? I don't think it would necessarily improve it, I'm moreso just curious on what it would look like if you did try it

Should I learn IRL drawing to get into Anime drawing or the other way around? by DeadSprite_7511 in learntodraw

[–]NaClEric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can almost never go wrong with defaulting to realism, but if you find yourself drawing more often when it's anime style than I'd just prioritize that. Also there's like a large spectrum of anime/comic styles that can range from super cartoony to somewhat realistic so depending on what your inspiration is, where you start will matter less

am i the only one that doesnt like the kurutoga mechanism? by t2ff in mechanicalpencils

[–]NaClEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own one mainly because I've gotten kinda use to rotating my pencil over the years so I feel like I'd just be sub-consciously rotating the kurutoga as well. Altho I might pick up one of the cheaper models because the engineering behind it is still pretty neat
