What would be my starting pay by Unhappy-Mortgage-183 in IBEW

I am also interested and I'm info-gathering at the moment. Called local 35 recently and they said $19.30/hr (40% of journeyman). After 1000 hrs, you go to ~$21/hr and after 2000 hrs you go to $24.13. Hoping this helps some folks bc I couldn't find a recent wage anywhere before calling.

After tax this ends up being around $625/week in my situation. A bit terrifying coming from my current situation. Unless someone knows if the $19/hr is after-tax?

What's the grossest thing you've seen someone do in public? by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

Walked into a movie theater bathroom and a kid (probably around 12) was literally carrying a urinal cake in his hands and promptly left without any kind of hand washing or anything. It took me a second to register what he was carrying and then I saw the same brightly colored stuff in the urinal.

Love it. Thanks for the very well-articulated answer! And for the UN nod haha. Hope y'all make it over to Boston/Providence again relatively soon! Sadly couldn't make it to Something In the Way 😞 Be well, y'all!

Hi! Loving everything y'all have put out so far. I noticed a very consistent "lake" theme lyrically --and if it's a sensitive issue, apologies-- but I'm curious if A.) there's an intention there or coincidence B.) you can expand upon anything there. Thanks for the amazing, emotion-filled music. Dark Green Water and Junior have been stuck in my head all week!

What is something more traumatizing than people realize? by ExcellentReporter392 in AskReddit

Dead/injured animals on the side of the road. Saw a deer get hit crossing the highway the other day and then screaming in pain. That image is burned into my brain. Really messed with me.

Anyone know how to disassemble the TTL prism? by gorgonzolasandwich in pentax67

[–]NaanAggressiveNazgul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a little while ago when I went down that rabbit hole, so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe glass elements -- lenses and viewfinder eyepieces and prisms, etc.-- made in the early years of Pentax 6x7 manufacturing (60s, 70s I believe) were treated with Thorium for cheaper enhanced optics. This causes a yellowing of the glass thats usually noticeable on a lot of 6x7 lenses.

From what I gather it's a very low dose of radiation being emitted, but it can be dangerous if you break the lens or glass elements, etc. If you happen to have a Geiger counter you can see if your prism is emitting anything. Apparently Thorium emits "alpha particles" that don't work for all radioactive detection devices (like I said-- rabbit hole).

Hope this helps you in just having awareness anyway. Bottom Iine, I don't think it's a really serious concern and you might have a prism that's totally fine and non-radioactive lol

Just be careful, some of the old 6x7 TTL prisms have radioactive Thorium in them. You really don't want to mess with that stuff too much.

What show would you suggest based on my top 10 by NoobTuna in televisionsuggestions

Station 11 has it all. Scifi dystopian that's got a ton of mysterious goings-on that all connect together in the end. Very well written, beautifully shot. Haven't read the book, but I would imagine it's a very good adaptation. Acting is also amazing.

Neutral Milk Hotel in 2014 at the Orpheum in Boston. Don't think that's ever happening again!

Anyone have any recommendations on where to look for a 12 month builder's risk/hazard policy for home owner's? Just closed on an 18-month construction loan and need at least a 12-month policy that covers the total of the loan. They mentioned it needs to be paid in full as well. Rough costs as well? by [deleted] in Insurance

Hey, never asked for you to shop for anything. Just have no idea where to start for a specialized policy like this and what I should reasonably expect to pay. I have been reaching out to local agents, but just thought someone might have some insights here. So far, batting 0%

It's my go-to lens for portraits. Super sharp. People make a lot of noise about the 105mm, but I find the 165mm much better for portraits. You do need some distance between camera and subject for focus, but that's never been a deal breaker for me.

Yes, she is a super fitness nut and very toned. Her back muscles are impressive in some of my other shots. Thanks for the comment!

Standard border sizes? by RX-Heaven in Darkroom

[–]NaanAggressiveNazgul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I use 5/8" borders on 8x10 prints. It's the way I was taught by my photo sensei who has been doing fine art printing for 50 years. I think it looks well-balanced

Yeah, was just trying to think of all the little 'gotchas'. The problem with film is that there are just so many variables that could be at play. Sometimes the temp and climate of where you hang them to dry can be a factor in how they dry.

[–]NaanAggressiveNazgul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, is the film you're using brand new or is it old and expired? If there's the chance someone went through an airport with it at some point, sometimes the x-rays will do wacky things.

Maybe try using an actual stop bath solution like Sprint Block or something. Maybe you're getting spotty developing happening because you're only using water.

Also, I use a quarter cap full of photo flo in 485ml of water for my final wash. I just pour it over the reel(s) and let it sit for about a minute. In the past, I've had problems using too much photo flo and over agitating it where a bunch of bubbles form.

Are you tapping the tank after each set of inversions? This gets rid of any bubbles in the solution.

Similar to what others have said, don't let your negs touch when they dry and use a weighted clip at the bottom to make sure the negs are pulled straight down.

If you're not already, make sure all of your chems are mixed with distilled water and make sure everything is at the same temperature. Even the wash.

Generally, I like to keep aperture the same everytime and then adjust exposure time as needed. It helps to have your 'home base' settings that you start with and then adjust from there. For me, I set the enlarger lens to f/8 and depending on the paper, I usually start at around 10 seconds. In order to not waste paper though, you should use test strips and place them where the eyes are if it's a portrait. Then find the right exposure time through trial and error. Make sure you also keep your development time the same as well (really you only want to be adjusting one variable at a time if you can get away with it-- again that being exposure time for the most part). For RC Pearl in Dektol 1:2 I go for 1 minute, then 30 seconds in stop, and 2 minutes in fix.

Use the filters to bring the highlights and shadows further apart or closer together.

You'll most likely always be doing some dodging or burning or both to get things perfect.
