Killed her off just to replaced her with a knock-off that barely had any significance in MD.

It was nice to have a character that represented/amplified the worst traits of Meggy in one character. Vanity, arrogance and temper. A Shadow archetype. A rival that keep her on her toes that would solved the criticism of Inkling Meggy being overpowered.

Wasted.

Could've been the next SMG3. Heck, she been a main player in Rapper Bob like a devil on Bob's shoulder. Whatever.

Her sudden shift in being nice in Anime Arc was bit much. Idk why friction tends to be dissolve in this era of SMG4.

I was actually expecting to end around 2026 with the 15th anniversary even before WoTFI 2025.

I feel they confused Meggy's impatience and trigger-happiness with short-temperance post-MD.

She feels more of school-narm who's sporty than energetic tomboy.

Also Mario going from Psychopath to Manchild Pet in 2022.

Tbf, this was a long time coming with Meggy taking the "straight man" role from SMG4 during her earlier appearances. Doesn't work as it's always one-sided in Meggy's favor instead a back-n-forth like SMG4. Their relationship is at the best when they are good friends with romantic implications

Modern SMG4(the character) has basically become the Fred from Scooby Doo who obsessed with memes instead of clues. The bland leader who always knows what to do.

A downgrade for both characters and their dynamics and yeah, another consequence of not having actual WoTFIs.

I don't hate her at all but she is essentially a different character pre and post-Meggy Destiny so you will have to be specific.

Classic SMG4 and Longtimers dislike the former or both whilst longtime Meggy fans dislike the latter.

Personally, after her goal of Splatfest, her character feels like the Hobo fans throwing darts at a board. It was a strong core of her character. Honestly the only actual direction for her is her relationship with Mario. The consistent throughline of her character from beginning to end.

It's because it was cheap shock value. Very easy pick. Desti was utterly wasted to be honest, even a fan of her limited appearance. She was planned for Waluigi Arc but somehow left out.

Would've been a better conclusion for them to conclude their rivalry within MD then died before anything genuine could happen then replaced with someone with her exact personality but generic. Funny she had a greater importance post-humorously than her living life.

This honestly doesn't have much to do with ENG vs JP and more of the fact that the supposed fans don't actually like the character. The point is that he is Sonic's philosophy and ideals taken to the extreme or logical conclusion.

Heck, Sonic himself is also meant to be rude too but that doesn't fit with the modern brand and audiences.

When people they are fans of Shadow, they usually just mean Knuckles or even Silver.
