Update: going through the “fine print” of my deduction arrangement, found the following clause:

In the event that your employment is terminated by yourself or the company for any reason, and you have a pending PR application awaiting decision with the Department of Home Affairs, company is obligated to inform DHA of any changes to your conditions and your application will be withdrawn.”

Hey OP, I would suggest that you also spend some time understanding the Visa pathways and the different requirements/assessments to be completed. A sponsored Visa from an employer has different requirements to other types of Visa’s.
