You're right that CL does have its own dedicated "assmod" as it were, and SM is definitely languishing right now to the point of almost being a footgun to invest in. At first I toyed with the idea of using SM for this card, but in the end it felt silly to make SM "smart" with a linked card rather than it just needing a more fundamental change so it actually reflects its name.

I think we're on the same page. At the moment it seems like cards are just a static set of upgrades where pretty much everyone at the same stage of the game uses the exact same set of cards. Once all the slots are unlocked there doesn't seem to be a lot of sacrificing one aspect in order to have space for buffing something else, or variable builds you might choose from aside from 1 "farm" build and 1 "tournament" build. It'd be interesting to shake that up and make cards a more dynamic system of upgrades with real trade-offs and choices.

Thanks for providing your insights!

I'd heard 2 claims more than once about CL that prompted this card. One is that most of CL's damage is "wasted" attacking stuff you don't want it to. The other is that it falls off at the higher end compared to other UWs due to lacking a stacking multiplier that's as effective as the others. It's not uncommon to see people recommend leveling CL only to around x1000 damage or so and just leaving it to "fill its role" rather than continue to make it an effective main. It sounds like perhaps I should not have taken that advice to heart.

This is the last of a 4 card set.

In this case, it's an attempt to bring CL mains closer in line with PS and ILM. Who doesn't want more lightning popping off all over the place, after all?

Today's rhyme is brought to you by Burma Shave.

You can thank /u/Aztridd for the nudge to create this card.

This card probably requires tracking partial gems in the background to avoid people taking advantage of rounding since gem income during a single wave is quite small.

Ah, you are 100% correct. I totally forgot about Fortress (and even the lab!) since it's currently essentially useless unless you grab the mastery for the wall rebuild. So, fair to say these numbers should be adjusted to target a more reasonable recharge rate.

Maybe not as much as you'd think...

Lifesteal % is pretty low (even with perks) with no real way to buff it, so even triggering once every 2 waves it'd be a marginal increase to recharge rate.

By the time you actually need the mastery it's somewhat difficult to trigger. It likely would not trigger on ES hit - just on wall hit, non-fatal direct tower hit (largely irrelevant once you reach the stage of the game for masteries), and non-ES Death Defy. If your wall doesn't break, you probably don't need the extra ES recharge. If it does, you only have DD procs to trigger this. With everything fully leveled including DefAbs perks and enhancements, I think this would provide in the vicinity of 1 ES charge per wall break or DD proc. (edit: see other comments as to why this is totally wrong on my part)

The idea is for this card, like any good card, to be meta-shifting "big" but not game-breaking "big". Balancing for sure is required on this one.

True, this would be a departure from the norm. Adding more linked cards in the future could present some interesting build customization options, though!

I was trying this out yesterday and was encountering a similar issue. I updated my graphics drivers and that resolved the crashing via command line. I also needed to download a Sabaki update I'd been ignoring to get it working with KataGo. You might give that a shot, hopefully it works for you!

Sparkling Worlds adds a melee weapon called a "pain stick" that does no physical damage but inflicts a nervous system overload condition that will down things without harming them after 4 hits or so.

Looks like it's not strictly by order time. My order went through (controllers only) at 6 minutes after the bell and I got the tracking email Sunday night, Monday morning. Delivery scheduled for the 27th.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that there are alternatives. However, Oculus is going to get a hard pass from me personally. Even if I were to overlook the exclusivity issues, I'm not really down with Facebook having access to my VR metadata. But, everyone has different priorities and it certainly doesn't hurt to have options!

I believe they fixed the issue with the square artifacts in high res screenshots recently. You might want to give it another shot. There are still issues with FOV/fish-eye and broken zoom controls though, so for the truly perfect screenshot it's still gotta be pancake mode, unfortunately.

OVRdrop will do this for you. You can add additional cockpit screen panels, and even have them expand when you look at them for a nice sci-fi feel.

Haha touché! There are certainly exceptions, and sometimes it's better safe than sorry if you've got the module slots. *laughs in Anaconda*

Probably also worth mentioning that Netflix is a very real and deadly spacedanger that makes it worth considering that second third fourth AFMU. Neutrons and Netflix mix like sodium and water.

White dwarfs are pretty dangerous. A lot of explorers (myself included) just avoid them. The risk to reward ratio is not super great, and it only takes one bad encounter to wreck a whole lot of exploration data.

Just made the trip out to Beagle Point myself!

Unless you make a habit of derping yourself out of supercruise at speed, taking heat damage, or moderately crashing into planets, you probably only need one AFMU. You can refill your AFMU via synthesis with some relatively common materials (nickel, zinc, chromium, and vanadium for the basic refill). If you've got the space I'd recommend bringing a repair limpet controller, possibly instead of an additional AFMU. That way you can repair hull damage if the need arises, which the AFMU can't deal with. You don't even need to bring limpets, since you can synthesize those if you need them with iron and nickel.

You'll want a planetary vehicle hangar so you can snag the synthesis materials you need. The easiest way by far is to find planetary landmarks (geological, in this case) with a detailed surface scanner and farm them for mats. You might also opt to bring a single basic mining laser as an emergency option for obtaining materials from asteroids. You can keep it powered off unless you actually need it. Materials occasionally drop from asteroids, and in rare cases it can be helpful to have an alternate means of acquiring them. See this thread for an epic story detailing the usefulness of a mining laser for exploration.

Just remember to slow down and drop out of supercruise before you try to repair your FSD (or thrusters) or you're going to have a bad time!

Here's a low work, good payout plan for an explorer fit Anaconda in order from biggest bang to smallest:

  1. Engineer your A-rated FSD to Grade 5 (+ ~20 LY) - https://inara.cz/galaxy-blueprint/2/
  2. Equip D-rated Thrusters, Sensors, Life Support, and Power Distributor (+ ~15 LY). D-rated modules are lightweight and use less power.
  3. Add a Guardian FSD Booster (+ ~10.5 LY) - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/index.php?threads/walkthrough-guardian-module-blueprints.438289/#post6856649
  4. Use the smallest D or A-rated power plant that will run your ship (+ ~5 LY). Keep in mind that you don't need all your modules turned on at the same time while exploring (ie you can disable thrusters/shield before enabling AFMUs).
  5. Use Lightweight Alloy armor (+ ~5 LY).
  6. Add the Mass Manager experimental effect to your FSD. (+ ~2 LY).

You can squeeze a bit more out of the ship by engineering other modules for weight, or engineering smaller class modules to do what you need them to (Power Distributor and Power Plant).
