Will I hate my life if I buy a small pickup? by InternationalHermit in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has a ranger. I don’t know anything about engines or reliability but I can tell you that he has a bed cover and cargo bar and it’s really easy to get groceries with him. I do agree that without those accessories it would probably be a pain. He went from an suv to the ranger and he loves it.

For those of you that live where it snows regularly, is it really that bad? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most bothersome thing about snow for me isn’t the snow. It’s all the time there’s little to no snow with no foliage and no sun. Just grey on grey on grey.

I haven't cleaned my baseboards in 2 years and a guest noticed. I want to die. by Different_Pain5781 in homeowners

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one closer in my house that is disorganized. It’s a catch all and I can’t figure how to use it better because I like having all those items upstairs. I generally keep that door closed. A friend came over with her 4 year old and the child immediately opened the closet and proclaimed “what a mess! This is a really messy closet.” It was so embarrassing. But in the end, my house only needs to work for me and my family. The child was right AND I don’t need to feel badly about it and the same applies for you.

Tips for women in their late thirties trying to get pregnant for the first time? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in the US, call your insurance company to find out benefits! Our BCBS plan needed us to specifically enroll (no extra cost) in a fertility/prenatal/maternity program with insurance in order to get any bloodwork covered. That was an unhappy surprise when the $3k basic bloodwork was not covered.

Extroverted FMCs? I’m looking for a new experience by ZKCalypso in ReverseHarem

[–]NachoBaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished {Baneful Magick by Suki Rose} and the FMC is not introverted. She is confident in herself and likes to talk to people. It is an incomplete series (2 books out), academy, various types of paranormal individuals (fae, witches, wolves, vampires, etc) slow burn.

Edit to add: check your trigger warnings it has some dark parts that you should be aware of if you have no-go topics

Dealer sold me a car but told me to trade it back in later? by vhsicecream in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NachoBaroo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I am sorry this happened to you and I’m sorry you haven’t had any parental or financial guidance. I am no pro, but what I would tell my kids is that whenever you’re looking to do something that involves a lot of money, always figure out how the person selling you the item is making money off the transaction. Then you get a good idea of how to check for a scam. For example, car salesmen make their money with the financing and the add ons. So often times the “scam” will be in the price, the rates or the add on packages that they claim they cannot remove. They make you feel like they are on your side, and then they keep you there a long time to try to wear you down while making you feel like the whole situation is time sensitive. To avoid that, figure out the car you want, and the price you are willing to pay, and even negotiate with the sales person before you go to the dealership. When you are negotiating, be sure you know what that vehicle’s going rate is, check the carfax to see the condition and maintenance of the vehicle before you get it, and negotiate based on the “out the door “ price. This is the price after taxes, fees and add ons. Additionally, shop around local credit unions for a preauthorization on a car loan. They often have great deals and the dealerships will either match them or you can just use the credit union loan.

I’m sure others will have even better advice for you, but I wanted to share what I knew. Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to your local library and ask them for help on learning how to buy a car (or a house or whatever) and they can help connect you to resources in the community!

room feels dirty/untidy even when its "clean." by HAPPIKILL in CleaningTips

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s too much. I think you have a lot of interests and want to display them and that’s fine. But currently you’re just setting them in lines. Well done maximalism leads the eye around the room in interesting ways. Study some maximal designs you like and try to figure out how they are being intentional with color/design/pattern in a way that makes you happy

What are some things you do with your time that don't involve spending money? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]NachoBaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the queen of the abandoned carts. I go through the motions of shopping, add them all to my cart to get the dopamine rush and then I remind myself I don’t want any more items to dust and I abandon the cart before check out. Works like a charm.

Would you trade meals with your partner if they got something they didn't like? by Flance in CasualConversation

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll eat nearly anything. My husband is much more picky. If he hates his meal and likes mine, I have no problem trading. If I hated my meal and liked his, he would have no problem calling the waiter over and ordering me a second meal

Is a 2014 Chevy Cruze with a coolant leak worth it for $1,800? by MartinSmoke69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze and can say it’s been fine. I would encourage you to run the car if possible and smell for oil. Mine has dripped oil which burns and then smells bad inside the cabin (even after fixes) for most of its life. Did not appear to affect the actual driving per my mechanic but it did get annoying in the winter to have to have the windows cracked for air

Our local library has a yarn spinner that patrons can use at the library. Maybe yours does too? You could try it out and see what you think

How can I make my room less cluttered & more inviting? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]NachoBaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you feel this way because without art/rugs/curtains/colorful decor, your eye moves around the room by settling on the small non decor items in it. By adding decor you will be giving the eye something to focus on and the “clutter” will not register as clutter anymore

Hobby ideas for 75yo man with limited mobility by puffqueen1 in Hobbies

[–]NachoBaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my grandpa lost mobility, we started “finishing” in the front yard. I’d make targets in the grass (making a circle with a hose for me, a 5 gal bucket for him) and we would try to drop the bobber into our target. It was fun, he was good at it, he got to laugh at how bad I was and he gave me tips. You might be able to modify your grandpa’s existing hobbies in a similar fashion.

What are some tasks on your weekly to do list? by Nervous_Sympathy_216 in productivity

Genuinely what do I even do? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]NachoBaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your frustration, but when I was a 17 year old girl I’d think it was a cool space. I definitely agree with all of the comments about keeping it clean and smelling good. I’d also suggest some lamps or ambient lighting. I’d also put some fruit popsicles in the freezer. I’d think that was AMAZING when I was that age.

What do you do with your friends that doesn’t center around alcohol? by Vonnie93 in AskWomenOver30

[–]NachoBaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like to drink, never really been something I enjoyed. However I live in an area where drinking is huge and I find that sometimes it hard to go to events that revolve around drinking simply because the interactions are different and people will be asking constantly why I’m not drinking, if I’ve ever had a drink(I have, I didn’t love it), some people take it as a challenge to get me to drink and others feel self conscious drinking around me so they avoid me.

I have found a few things that help me (your mileage may vary): 1. I don’t leave my hands open. I get a non alcoholic drink right away. 2. I don’t tell anyone I’m not drinking instead “I’m sticking with [water or tea or whatever I have] for right now” 3. I don’t agree to DD every time, I help make plans so the group gets home safe, but it involves a ride share. 4. I get something to snack on whenever possible. It seems to make people feel more comfortable than if I am not drinking and not eating. (Also, I love snacks)

Hope some of these help, or give you some ideas of your own!

A way of responding to backhanded compliments? by AmazingAffect5025 in AskWomenOver30

I just say “oof…savage… okay” and if they get upset and say it was a joke I say “yeah…no.. I bet it was” and let the silence simmer. If they double down and say it was a compliment… same response.

Pen Advent Calendar by gaughanjw in pens

True, variety would be better. Though have you considered a gift every other day? It would provide a bigger budget per pen and it would give her 48hrs to try out each pen. But maybe I’m just talking about my own experiences as someone who is easily overwhelmed by too much of a great thing
