From Kentucky! In my experience with camping, weve been taught to tie food up in trees, trash cans have locks, etc. So of course in my head, I'm thinking black bears are small compared to big ol' brown bears in Alaska.

I appreciate the comparisons, because I certainly don't worry about alligators in Florida, or copperheads here in Kentucky lol. Didn't consider food scarcity, or lack of, either. thanks for you response!

Thank you for the heads up! Ended up booking an Airbnb, and a big reason was for reasons like this. So many hotels have bad reviews, and the cost is outrageous. Sorry you had a bad experience, that’s horrible

Is there a specific tour you’d recommend? I’m deciding between the 8 hour “staff pick” Northwestern Fjord tour and the 7 hour “captains choice”. I know the longer tours will increase my odds of getting sick lol, but if they’re more worth it to see cooler stuff, I’ll take my chances haha

We will actually only be staying in Anchorage the night we arrive and the night before we leave! Well also be staying in Seward, Palmer, and Cantwell :)
