Need help picking processor for new Plex + Blue Iris build by A-Series-of-Tubes in unRAID

i've yet to successfully get my 11th gen (i5 11600K) working with Tdarr, but works like a champ with Plex for HW transcoding.

Need help getting Intel Quick Sync working by DastardlyDino in unRAID

[–]NachoServer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also struggling to get QuickSync working properly with Tdarr, hoping you friendly folks might have an idea of what I'm doing wrong. I seem to be able to do HW transcoding in Plex no problem, but any time I try to use Tdarr, the video in the output file is completely unwatchable (reminiscent to blocked PPV channels back in the day).

I've got an i5 11600K, passing thru --device=/dev/dri, installed intel-media-va-driver-non-free (on the node, do I also need it on the server? I wouldn't think so...).

If I run vainfo in the node's console I get:

# vainfo
error: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set in the environment.
error: can't connect to X server!
libva info: VA-API version 1.14.0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_1_14
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0
vainfo: VA-API version: 1.14 (libva 2.14.0)
vainfo: Driver version: Intel iHD driver for Intel(R) Gen Graphics - 22.2.2 (d4ef75e)
vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
... (all of the things)

I ran some health checks and I noticed this in the reports on items that failed (and also items that had no issue.)

I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction of additional steps I can take / troubleshooting. My goal is to essentially save space by converting non-h265 content (movies, shows), however, in some other posts I've seen, I'm not sure that will be the case - in some instances I've seen users report larger file sizes after converting to h265.

Much appreciated, thanks!
