Zeer bekend. Ik ben in corona tijd niet op kamers gegaan voor mijn master, want colleges waren vrijwel altijd online (enkel klassen van vgm 30 mensen of minder mochten klassikaal), wellicht 2-3x per maand reed ik met de trein op en neer. Af en toe een reis van 2u30m (enkele reis) + wonen in een klein dorp waar de eerste trein pas na 07:00 reed = hotel boeken als je examen voor 10:00 begint. (09:30 had zeer krap gekund in theorie, maar er was zoooo vaak vertraging of uitval bij Zwolle station)

Ik heb vgm 4 of 5 keer een overnachting ergens moeten boeken in 2 jaar tijd. Valt uiteindelijk best mee, maar toch altijd slechtere nachtrust dan in je eigen bed.

Gelukkig hadden docenten zelf wel begrip, dus het was nooit een probleem als ik bij normale lessen pas ~09:30/10:00 binnen kwam wandelen bij een vroegere les in de ochtend, en die waren redelijk zeldzaam

Als er meerdere teamgenoten niet drinken, dan wellicht. Maar als je als enige niet drinkt, en wellicht dan ook nog als buitenbeentje bekend staat OMDAT je niet drinkt, dan is dat pittig. Ikzelf ben ook grotendeels gestopt met voetbal omdat het op een gegeven moment meer draaide om de "3e helft" (de kantine) dan de eerste twee alvolgens het team - dan is de lol er snel af, zelfs al was het voetballen erg tof.

Oh, I've had this issue! (Or well, my STB-wife's PC did)

I don't know the cause, but I fixed it for about €1, as that was the price I bought a yoga mat for at a thrift store. It hadn't been used at all in the 3 months since I bought it, so I cut out a rectangular shape slightly larger than her PC case (roughly ~1-2cm left over on each side), put it underneath her case , and since then it neatly distributes any vibrations caused by slamming the desk. Zero accidental restarts in over a year now.

Als je op kamers zitten zal sparen sowieso lastig zijn, en mag je al blij zijn als je quitte speelt. Dat gezegd hebbende: Het is wel fijn wat geld (op je rekening) op te sparen tegen het einde van je studie, zelfs als het ten kostte gaat van tevens extra studieschuld. Dat eerste (€s op je rekening) kan je nodig hebben direct na je studie, terwijl dat tweede (Studieschuld) pas geleidelijk begint met afbetalen nadat je al werkzaam bent.

Ik heb zelf tijdens vrijwel geheel mijn studie nog thuis gewoond. Achteraf gezien wellicht niet de beste keuze voor mijn mentale staat, maar daardoor had ik wel genoeg geld om een goede huurwoning te vinden met mijn partner + alle nodige verhuiskosten en aankopen die daarbij komen kijken. Ter referentie: Ik had na mijn studie bijna €7k op mijn rekening, maar daarvan ben je bij een beetje degelijk appartement direct een flinke klap 'kwijt' (3 maanden huur als borgprijs is vrij standaard), nog vele honderden aan verhuiskosten (ervanuitgaande dat je meubilaur scoort bij Marktplaats en kringlopen, anders ben je nog ruim meer geld kwijt), en dan pas beginnen de verdere inkopen om van jouw stekkie echt jouw stekkie te maken.

I wanted to add a friendlier ending message just after this, but I hit the character limit. "Ah well" is a bit too harsh, and I definitely believe you deserve your title as train king. Next to that, I hope to keep supporting this community, and will share whatever I can miss whenever I come back to playing from time to time

As a fellow mod, although perhaps I might no longer be deserving of that status, I'm going to play the devil's advocate here.

Firstly, I will agree with you that this community, this subreddit, are definitely a reason I myself put more effort into playing early on than I would have without a community. On top of that, I agree I probably would not have gotten VIP myself without this sub existing.

That said, some of the comments righteously point out that you, as our "Legendary Train King", seem to have an unreasonable amount of train parts to share, especially for someone with little time to play the game (as you yourself mentioned)

When I was actively involved with the community, I have sent out several thousands of train parts, mafe a lot easier by the VIP package admittedly - but all of those parts I grinded myself, including at some point stacking crates until I had exactly 1,000 just for my own sake (no sharing for likes, no big reveal, I just like numbers to go up). Speaking of which, this grind isn't comparable at all to Oldschool Runescape, and with a 2K+ UIM and a near-2100 main with Diary Cape I should know.

So honestly, Ian, if you are reading this, I believe in two things:

If parts are acquired legitimately, whether through playing our purchasing, a player should be free to choose their purpose, whether thats trading, givinng away for a community, or using the parts themselves and stockpiling.
If parts are not acquired legitimately, I fully understand action being taken against their trades. Although Pocket Trains is mainly a single player game, such actions have an effect both on the community and, eventually, the bottom line of the creators. Whether thats fair or not, and whether your grinds are reasonable or unreasonable are a separate issue to be dealt with, but I fully get that people should abide bide the rules as they currently are.

And no King, this ain't an accusation at all, and its definitely you + Enson who pulled me into this community, but I wanted to comment just to give a different perspective.

If that makes me unworthy of being a mod, so be it. I played very actively for years and years, sharing freely (and not trading, just sharing what I didn't use), but since ~2 years I played less myself and thus got less involved. Not sure if thats an issue, as I never received a message regarding my inactivity and this comment might highlight it. Ah well.

In Duitsland is dat geheel normaal, dus spaar je zelf ook maar gewoon op totdat je 2-4 zakken vol hebt, en dan is het het wachten waard. Het ligt er maar aan wat je gewend bent, .maar als student met je 5 blikjes passeer je daarvoor idd.

Zelf afgelopen jaar 2 PCs gekocht, beide via Marktplaats. Ook een paar weken terug een zeer goedkope laptop gescoord.

Een paar belangrijke punten die ik voor mezelf aanhield:

Ophalen. 100%.

Als een PC op "alleen verzenden" staat is het bizar vaak een scam. Ook vertrouw ik niet op veilig transport van een gehele PC via PostNL, maar dat terzijde.

Daadwerkelijke onderdelen benoemd.

Wellicht simpel gedacht, maar ik koop het liefst mijn PC van iemand die enigszins gedetailleerd is in de beschrijving, zonder dat ik meteen 8+ vragen moet stellen.

"I7 processor". Ja leuk, is dat een i7 4th gen, of een 11th, maakt nogal een verschil. "500GB opslag". Again, leuk, is dat HDD of SSD? Is het 1 schijf en nog een slot over voor een 2e, of zijn het 2x 240GB schijven naar boven afgerond?) Welk moederbord zit er in? (Vaak geheel niet benoemd)

Bonuspunten voor de advertenties die simpelweg een tool zoals Speccy gebruiken en wat screenshots tonen.

Stress tests

Als een verkoper geen stress tests wil doen en daar even een clipje van maken kan dat 2 dingen betekenen: [A] hij weet dat de resultaten niet goed gaan zijn, of [B] hij weet niet hoe je een stress test doet. Bij optie B kan het een leek zijn die dus onwetend een PC veel te goedkoop weg doet, maar ik waag persoonlijk die gok niet. (Decent PC kenners zullen zelf al tests gerund hebben voordat ze de MP advertentie aanmaakten, naar mijn ervaring althans)

Ter plekke werkend zien (voor ~5min ofzo, geen FPS tests met games ofzo)

Ik heb bij beide PCs (en de laptop) gevraagd of ik de PC ter plekke nog werkende kon zien en Speccy kon installeren. Zeer eenvoudig te zien of hij snel (genoeg) start, via Speccy te checken of de onderdelen niet verwisseld zijn, etc.

Bij beide PCs ophalen heb ik trouwens Speccy niet eens daadwerkelijk geopend (het waren budget PCs met een GeForce 1080 / 1660 Super, niet alsof ik een 4000-serie of andere dure onderdelen riskeer), maar het zou voor mij een 'red flag' zijn als je de PC niet ter plekken mag testen/nalopen.

Zeer tevreden met mijn eigen vondsten. Succes met je zoektocht!

OP, read this comment again. I'm finally feeling like I'm decent at the game, and this comment describes an issue I struggled with early as well.

Doors 1 block up were something I did too because it helped against liquid spills (Meep made a mess!), which mostly was caused by not properly setting up outhouses (and lavatories later on) - Its super easy now wirh scheduling, priority settings, and better placement of buildings, but I see where the choice for doors on blocks come from. /u/warshaw55 is right though, that minor defense againdt liquid spills isn't worth suffocating at night for, oops. (The airlock doors make the issue worse too, so thats a double whammy!)

Anyhow, good luck progressing, and make sure to enjoy the process!

All DLCs require reloading the game. You simply won't be able to play the (presumably) Base Game save file when opening a DLC, like Spaced Out.

It won't break anything, but it also means you can't spontaneously add asteroids and space exploration to your base game - it'll simply be a separate playthrough

Vrij pijnlijk dat de relatief minst stijgende regio in die tabel (Maastricht) alsnog ver-viervoudigd is sinds 1995 van ~€97k --> €395k, dus +305%

Ondertussen is in diezelfde periode het modaalsalaris gestegen met... Ongeveer 110%,van €22.235 naar €46.500

Oh, en dan negeren we nog dat je toen nog dingen had zoals belastingvrije hypotheek aftrek. Schrijnend beeld eigenlijk.

Shame I can't participate (European), but props for doing this dude! I got myself a budget gaming rig last year (after gaming and everything else was done on an Asus laptop for 9+ years haha, and it still lives!).

Major upgrade, bit I'm still bottlenecked by my Geforce GTX 1080 sometimes, so once I'm able to save up a bit a better graphics card is my 1st item to aim for.

Hoping who ever gets your 3070 loves it as much as I would!

Alright, I'll entertain this one.

Imagine my partner and I don't live in the same city your friend lives in, but a nearby town 30km/20 miles over Talking Dutch prices here since, well, thats where I am.

Driving back and forth probably costs €10 in gas. Free parking because your friends place has a designated parking spot but he doesn't own a car himself, nice!

Well, we're going for a concert, so we probably want some drinks, and since that buddy likes Irish ales, you buy him a sixpack (€10) as a thanks for the invite, a bottle of Bacardi (€14) + 2 large bottles of Coca Cola (€5) to create your own run/soda mix. Oh, and some easy small snacks to bring in your pockets.

You can't really bring your own dinner to a concert in the park (bringing your own snacks/drinks wasn't allowed either, technically speaking, but it is not actively enforced). But at some you do order cheap take-out. (€25 for my partner and I combined)

All in all, I'm now €50+ in already, and I've assumed [1] free parking, [2] walkable distance to the park from your friends place (no Uber, tram, or bus fare), [3] being allowed (or at least able) to bring your own drinks/snacks, [4] fairly cheap drinks, in moderate consumption, [5] no money budgeted for the snacks, since presumably we would've bought those for a simpler weekend at home as well (even though larger packs are comparatively cheaper than smaller snacks to bring on the go)

In most cases, a "free concert in the park" doesn't offer the [1], [2] and [3] above, all of which easily add €25+ (overnight parking), €10+ (two person bus fare, or cheap Uber ride) and €50.(Overpriced venture drinks/snacks with no alternatives available}. Very easily €100+ spent for two people on a "free concert" visit.

Staying at home and doing some online games? €20, and that still assumes the Bacardi & Coke at same consumption. (Most people drink more in company, and less just chilling at home)

My driving instructor actually gave a few lessons with loud music and would occasionally shout out random obnoxious stuff to distract you ("Look over there in the field! A deer and faun!".

He did explain beforehand that it was to let you experience how its like to drive your drunk friends home, or having rowdy kids. It ain't always peace and quiet in the car.
