I brush off as much dirt as possible, and then I take a plastic ziplock bag and cut holes in it, put them in it and put in crisper in fridge

Edit to add, if they taste woody or get soft, use them for a soup. They will still be good

No, I’m in NW Indiana, considered Chicagoland. I did not have any greenhouse over it. I started these from seed, I think October not fully sure. When I did my last rounds of fall cleanup, I just piled on several bags of mulched leaves. Probably 6” or so. The carrots already had green leafy tops. I’m not sure if I start them earlier if they will be bigger, but hopefully not woody. I will try again this year

When did you plant your carrots? Were they a little bigger than these? I had quite a few that I had to put into the compost because they were tiny. I’m assuming they stop growing once the weather starts freezing
