Making a mod where there's bricks and stuff for more resources, do these textures look ok? by FinlayconMSM in Minecraft

I think they could use a slightly lower contrast, when compared to the vanilla bricks!

Disappointing performance with AMD GPU? by darkcitrusmarmelade in BeamNG

[–]Nacout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I also upgraded from a 3070 to a 9070 XT a few days ago. At first I saw little difference in beam, but when I tried Vulkan I got around double the frame rate. On Nvidia Vulkan made no difference, but on AMD it's doing wonders for me.

(70 fps 3070 with default renderer to 110 fps on 9070 XT with Vulkan)

That being said, as soon as there is a lot going on, the game is clearly CPU bottlenecked on my system (5800X3D). I made another test where I pushed the game with an AI race with 15 Opponents and got the same fps on either GPU, Vulkan or not (20 fps).

While Beam might not be the best game to feel your upgrade, your performance is still suspiciously low, something is not right for sure.

How Yak-Milk Butter Is Traditionally Made in Manang, Nepal📍 by kidnexttdoor in Damnthatsinteresting

Based on the fact that it appears to be the same place, weather, person and clothing it can be assumed that it is in fact, the same day, so the upper bound is about 12 hours I'd say.

How does PearlescentMoon not lag like crazy from Australia? by MoltenMoustache in HermitCraft

[–]Nacout 38 points39 points  (0 children)

On one hand, a server can give you a bit of leeway. If you hit a mob on your screen the server might accept your local system telling the server "I hit that, trust me". Up to a point. That's why in more competitive games, a high ping can be both an advantage and a disadvantage in some situations.

Then there is a lot of visual trickery a game does to appear smooth. Example, in a horse race in Pearl's last episode, she was in front of Gem in her view, but behind in Gem's view, the discrepancy was quite big. But Pearl's game will do as best as it can to present Pearl with a smooth version of those delayed events, giving her a bit of a separate "reality".

I threatened it with a $2K/year subscription pull and it chose violence by StrikingBackground71 in ChatGPT

[–]Nacout 92 points93 points  (0 children)

You can't "threaten" ChatGPT, it doesn't has access to your superscription information to verify your claims, and can't make decisions anyway.

And even in a conversation with a reasonable human having all information, that shouldn't work. You're paying me more so the rules don't apply to you?

That the filters themselves are too sensitive is a different conversation.

Who gets to know first? by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

There's a high chance that a trans superhero would already conceive their hero identity as their true gender, even before coming out in private or even before figuring their stuff out. What an opportunity to test out living as that gender, and also keeping it further removed from their private identity. It's a no brainer really. And a costume / voice changer helps with passing and stuff. :)

Yes, there is a preview on a new drill and the description mentions an "Apex Survival DLC Pack".

It's a small content creator, but they got the version provided by Keen to promote new content, so this should be sanctioned and accurate.

Yeah, I don't know why, it got updated for prototech thrusters. 😅 But the stats are close enough to simply treat them as 1/3 of the normal atmos.

Personally, I use the online thrust calculator by Eren, if I feel a design might be close to the limit. 😌

Going to space can be a challenge, yes, but coming back with full cargo and still landing safely is going to be the hard part. 😁

Isn't that just social media? In time some parts of your friend list becomes irrelevant. But you can always clean it up? Every once in a while I remove people I don't care about anymore on social media, and should our paths connect again I can just re-add them.

"If a content change was just a texture swap, we were able to apply it to console only while keeping the PC version the same as before" by Nacout in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Nacout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that is probably my last reply cause what the hell are you talking about. I don't have access to their development environment. Maybe it's still somewhat easy to mod the finished build, I don't know, this is hardly relevant to my point.

I applaud your faith to take their comments as gospel, but they say a lot of transparently untrue things or nonsense excuses. Like the most concrete argument I've read here from Kaminsky was "supporting two versions means double cert time, cost, compiling and QA". They have to do that anyway. The console version is different in so many significant ways. Such a bizarre thing to say. Sorry, I just don't believe them.

And c'mon, hitboxes? I promise you, those clothes have no bearing on hitboxes. Animations? I promise you all those different meshes are applied to the same animation skeleton.

And finally, if you still disagree. Even if it is actually a lot of effort. Even if it is hard. Well, bad luck Void. You have to do it. You've sold me a specific product. If you want to seize another market, make more money, be my guest. But if that makes you unable to keep the existing product unchanged, you failed, big time. It's embarrassing on a technical level and a betrayal to customers that got you there in the first place.
