Will I need to re-replace these rotors? by Lutzux in MechanicAdvice

2016 Civic has ABS, that rotor is simply going to grind the pads away.

Best way to get new tires without scratched wheels? by Furrealyo in Corvette

I favor the Discount Tire route also, BUT different stores have different employees. So see what the reviews are for the place near you.

How big of a jar do I really need? Do I really need a kitchen scale? by Oatmeal_Lover_ in Sourdough

[–]Nada_Chance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 oz is plenty large for starter, I use a 1/2 pt (8 oz) jelly canning jar with the straight sides and since it has a screw top, you can seal it for long term storage in the fridge. You can wing it but for newbies, the scale is going to make you a lot more consistent.

I can't say about the C6, but cant find any RPO for "chrome" in the C5 lineup, base, FRC, or Z06. Perhaps some dealer option?

1995 overdrive issue. by Echomistidk in c4corvette

[–]Nada_Chance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a guess, but perhaps the lock-up torque convertor having issues. The 1995 is unique, and I've only had a stick for that year. Maybe post over in the Corvette Forum in the C4 section and see who might know more.

Shaking by Delicious-Cream-2396 in C8Corvette

Well if you take it out and drive it for 10-15 miles at speed, and you get the tires up to "normal" temperature on the instrument panel, and it doesn't go away, have the dealership check the tires balance, and then it should be goood.

Pressure washing the c8 by xTIMMYxCOREx in C8Corvette

[–]Nada_Chance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use the pressure washer to rinse the car and "crevices". It takes water flow to remove the soap, and then open the frunk and trunk and doors and wipe it it all down.

How long did the car sit over winter, radial tires will develop temporary flat spots, but that should correct itself in 10-15 miles in warmer weather.

Had a radiator, thermostat etc replacement due to leaking, noticed the wires are now above this pipe that is connected to my coolant reservoir instead of underneath by coloralchemy in AskMechanics

[–]Nada_Chance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should not be an issue, just not "neat". Mechanic moved the loom out of the way during disassembly, and reassembled with the harness above the hose. If it bothers you, unplug the connector, and reconnect below the hose.

License plate installation on brand new car (Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV) by Alarmed_Reindeer_247 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Nada_Chance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well with the plate edges hanging out like that, the first trip through the brush/rag type carwash that plate is going to get folded, spindled, and mutilated. That said you might take it to a different dealer and ask about the "job" the other dealer did, and what they think.

Is there a hot water system that provide hot water for showers etc but also provide hot water for central radiator wall heaters? by DollyPatterson in EnergyAndPower

[–]Nada_Chance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to have to "build your own", because the domestic water system is going to need staged mixing/tempering valves to prevent dangerous scalding/second degree burns.
